I made a Long Island map showing lighthouse locations on my webpage, if anyone is interesting in checking it out. I have yet to find a lighthouse map on the web for this area, so I made one myself so that one exists. You can click on each individual lighthouse in the map to access street maps and driving directions for the ones you can get to by land...and of course, photos too! I'll be putting up short cuts and good viewing places for the ones you can't directly get to (eventually). So, it's really meant to be a lighthouse visiting guide for the Long Island region. It's a continual work in progress, so bear with me...but a decent start, I think. http://www.scroope.net/lighthouses/longisland.htm ------------------ KRISTIN ERIN SCROOPE kristin@scroope.net http://www.scroope.net/lighthouses/lhlist.htm [This message has been edited by kscroope (edited 04-28-2001).]

Kristin, you have made a great map! One of my trips to NY I need to stay on L.I. and do the lighthouse tour. In the summer of 1999, I took a tour of Fire Island. I had a beautiful day and fun time climbing the tower. I look forward to touring more L.I. lights. Thanks for you contributions.

Glad you liked the map. I'm glad it turned out to be something useful. I was at Fire Island myself earlier this year...it was the first time I ever climbed up that tower...That day was a little cold and a bit windy...but still a great view from the top of the tower! I could clearly see all the different areas of the bay that had frozen from up there.

Kristin- Thanks so much for the detailed information. I am planning a trip to the North Fork in June and your site helps me locate all the lights. Great job!

At Stan's request, here are driving directions for 1 Day of Long Island Lighthousing. His priority seemed to be seeing Montauk Point, so the focus of these directions are for Suffolk County lighthouses - Viewing 8 Lighthouses in 1 day: Montauk Point, Cedar Island, Long Beach Bar (Bug Light), Orient Point, Plum Island, Horton Point, Old Field Point & Fire Island. http://scroope.net/lighthousing/suffolkcountydirections.htm [This message has been edited by kscroope (edited 05-26-2001).]
