Forum Members Gift to Youngers - 03/08/01 04:29 PM

For more information about this thread:

While it will be hard to keep this 'secret' among so many people, please do not discuss this gift with Bill or Nancy Younger in advance of the Reunion.

As Steve works on the Eddystone Light painting, we're ready to accept donations from Forum Members towards this gift to be presented at the 2001 Collectors Reunion in October in Baltimore.

All Forum members and those who only read the Forums are invited to contribute to this gift. Any amount is welcome. Those who contribute $20 will receive a color print of the original image approximately 7 x 10" signed by Steve Ervin.

The original painting is 24 x 36" unframed. You can view this painting as it evolves here.

Your donation will go towards the cost of framing the original and making prints as well as a contribution to the Steve for his time and talents.

Please make your donation as a check payable to Brady Visual Impact and mail to:

Paul L. Brady
6723 W Balmoral Road
Indianapolis IN 46241-1744

Prints will be prepared and shipped this Fall. We will post here when they are ready to ship.

This gift to the Youngers continues a tradition of 'connected collectors' presenting a gift at the Collector Reunions which started with the presentation of a hand-painted silk tie featuring Point Arena CA in 1997 and a set of Seahorse wine glasses at the reunion in 1998.

Not much matter, Bob. I'd say anytime before August 30 would be helpful to Paul. At one time, we talked about having the prints numbered based on the date the order was received - lowest numbers first. But there is not a limit to how many prints can be made so it would just be a consecutive number. Not sure if that numbering will happen or not.

I am also planning on contributing to this gift as well. I do have one question...can you get more than one print for your donation? For example: $20 = 1 print, $40 = 2 prints, etc. I was thinking the prints would be nice to give for gifts. Any thoughts?

Re: Forum Members Gift to Youngers - 03/10/01 06:37 PM

I have my Excel spreadsheet ready and a separate account ready in my Quicken. I will enter the names in my spreadsheet in the order that they are postmarked, that way no matter how far away your Post Office is from Indy everybody is equal.

As John pointed out in his post at the start of this thread....

Please make your donation as a check payable to Brady Visual Impact and mail to:

Paul L. Brady
6723 W Balmoral Road
Indianapolis IN 46241-1744

I will take care of the sales tax on those collectors that live in Indiana.

If you would like more than one print, it will be $20.00 per print.

If you feel the urge to just send me lots of money, feel free to do that also, as it will go to a very good cause..

I will drop everyone an e-mail when I receive their payment. It will help me if you include your e-mail address with your check, that way I won't have to go to the forums to try and figure it out.

If you have already sent the payment without it, I should be able to figure it out.

Thanks,

Re: Forum Members Gift to Youngers - 03/21/01 02:19 AM

We are up to a total of 35 prints now. It has slowed down considerably the last couple of days with only one persons check arriving yesterday and two more today.

I have e-mailed everyone whose check I have received so far, so if you haven't gotten an e-mail from WackoPaul@bvimpact.com, then your check either hasn't gotten here yet, you haven't sent a check or if you mailed it before the 16th the US Postal Service has invested it in the Stock Market.

Re: Forum Members Gift to Youngers - 03/31/01 04:10 PM

Just an update!

We are at a total of 44 on the list for a print of the Eddystone painting.

I am upgrading my Epson photo printer for the third time in less than a year. What does that mean for the people who will be getting a print? Well instead of print that will last you 20 years or so, quoting Epson....

Quote:
Lightfastness rated 200 or more years before noticeable fading occurs, in normal indoor fluorescent lighting, under a glass frame, when using Genuine EPSON Archival Inks and compatible EPSON matte type papers. Under the same conditions, lightfastness rated at 140 yrs when using EPSON Premium Semigloss Photo Paper and EPSON Premium Luster Photo Paper. Results will vary depending on lighting conditions, humidity, color intensity, color range and print media. Fine Mode. Additional processing time will vary based on system configuration, software application and page complexity.

So depending on which paper surface I decide to go with, the Eddystone print should last you from 140 years to 200 years.

Thanks Paul...that way we can insure that several generations will see what one of their ancestors enjoyed. I for one will treasure the print while its in my posession.

Re: Forum Members Gift to Youngers - 03/31/01 05:46 PM

I think they used the EPSON Premium Semigloss Photo Paper and EPSON Premium Luster Photo Paper for the Declaration of Independance and it still seems to be holding up nearly 225 years later

Just think 200 years from now Digger's signature will be the future's "John Hancock"

Paul,
It's interesting that the paper will last that long. Hopefully this will be one way to help pass on the history of lighthouses for the next 2 generations.

Re: Forum Members Gift to Youngers - 04/07/01 05:35 PM

This is another update of the Eddystone gift & print list. As of this moment the total stands at #52 of the #100 limited Digger numbered and signed Eddystone prints of his painting, that will be presented to the Youngers at the Harbour Lights Reunion.

Everyone from whom I have received a check should have received an e-mail conformation from me, except for one for whom I wasn't able to figure out his e-mail since it wasn't included with the check. I will be banking all of the checks by next weekend, if the early people were wondering why they hadn’t cleared yet. I am going to establish a separate Brady Visual Impact account.

Albert Vaida, if you read this note, please send me an e-mail to WackoPaul@bvimpact.com and I will add your e-mail to the group. I am putting together a blind copy group mail to inform everyone when the prints are being shipped e.t.c., later this fall. A blind copy group e-mail, by the way, is the best way to send group e-mail so that you aren't sending a list of e-mail addresses out for the ‘world’ to copy and add to other lists. You will see only the address of WackoPaul@bvimpact.com since I will start the group with a copy sent to me. Just a little soapbox preaching here but if more people would send their group mails in this way there would be a whole lot less hoaxes and viruses passed around.

Down off of the soapbox, I am going to meet with Digger and pick up the painting so I can work on the photography end of it. Then, on June 10th, Sue and I will take the Eddystone painting to John Wisnewski's Bayside Treasures store in Toledo for the Bill signing event. John will frame the painting. Then as we get closer to the reunion, I will have John either ship the painting directly to the reunion hotel in Baltimore or to a friend/fellow collector who lives close to the Reunion site to bring to the Reunion.

This is another Saturday update of the Eddystone gift & print list. I received 7 more checks this last week, as of this moment the total now stands at #59 of the #100 limited edition (Digger numbered and signed) Eddystone prints of Digger’s painting, which will be presented to the Youngers at this years Harbour Lights Reunion in Baltimore.

I will be banking all of the checks this morning, if the early people were wondering why their check hadn’t cleared yet. I am going to establish a separate Brady Visual Impact account.
