This thread is for those belonging to Pharologist's Lighthouse Postcard Exchange to comment on cards they have received, questions, general notes, etc. Have fun everyone!
THanks Rod for closing the thread. We can now get on with the fun part!!!! Just a comment or two. All members take note that there have been a few email corrections to the mailinglist as issued. All but one is probably minor and would get there anyway, one was a lost digit on a house number, maybe would have made it too. In future LHPE's the coordinator should advise the members to hold off on mailing for at least a few days after receipt of the address list to allow for corrections. Also email script fonts can also contrirbute to failing eyes errors.
But for now, Everyone have fun on your daily trips to the mailbox ! Upon my return from lighthousing for the next two weeks, I'll either join another LHPE or start one!!
PS My cards go out Monday 10/16 (Jupiter Lighthouse after refurbishment!!)

I'm ready! My cards will go out the first part of next week. I just need a few spare moments to write them out and get to the Post Office for stamps. I'm looking forward to receiving some great cards in the second postcard exchange. The first one has been super so far!
By the way, I believe we have 18 different states represented in our 25 members!!! In the next LHPE I'm going to appeal to any International's to come and join us. the postage my be a bit more, but the cards will be that much more appreciated!!!

I got my cards addressed and put a ring necked Pheasant on each of them and they will be in the mail soon, I didn't write messages to everyone (I just don't have much to say) and I am all ready 2 seasons behind on a Fighting Lightkeepers update, so if I were to compose messages to everybody it might be a couple years before I got them out. But I did put my name at the bottom so you'll know who its from, feel free to take a medium blue pen and write your self a nice note (from me) Mark [This message has been edited by Mark Wagner (edited 10-15-2000).]

Holy Jupiter!! That is some fast mail! Pharologst's card has arrived in CT. I better get a move on--I am mailing my cards this weekend Looking forward to more! Keri_B
Just bought my cards this weekend for Postcard Group #1. Addressed them and stuck Harry Truman stamps on (the bird is colorful but boring.)
I'll get to Group #2 next week, as I feel compelled to write something on every one. I love getting the cards everyday from all over, some lighthouses I've never heard of.
Originally posted by wheland: I just printed out the labels and now i've got to make sure i send a diferent card to those on both lists.
List 1 goes out tomorrow, list 2 maybe the next day.
I have also recieved the jupiter card.

I am working hard at getting my next supply of cards. I purchased my first 25 while I was out of town and didn't know I would be joining this second group. I should have bought an extra 25...but I didn't. Hopefully, I will have them ready to send out in the next couple of weeks.
I know what you mean, Lorie.. For many years I would pick up cards at the different lighthouses that I visited....but I never dreamed that I would ever be in a "post-card exchange". I've just about used up all the "extra's" that I have (which is fine)....but now its time to head for the coast and get some more. In St. John's group I sent out alot of different cards, but this time I may only send out 1 or 2 types. This really is alot of fun....
Got my "Jupiter" card from Pharaologst (George). Great card! I didn't have that Florida light in my collection of cards. It was mailed on the 14th and arrived on the 17th. Not bad for 20 cents postage from Florida to Massachusetts.

My postcards will be in the mail at the end of next week. I leave Friday for Connecticut and Long Island to visit some of their beautiful lighthouses. Hopefully, I'll find enough postcards.
Hey guys, I'm up here in NJ getting ready to visit a few Lights ( in the rain!) I will pick up more postcards , enough for the next few LHPE's that I plan on getting going.(Too much fun not to doit again & again) I can't wait to get back and go thru the mail, and sort it out: junk, bills, and important stuff (lighthouse postacrds!)
My digital camera will get a work out once again!!!

I found so far this computer is more than worth every penny it cost.It has brought me to this group and given me lots to look foward to and this card exchange is great. oseabee
Two more cards came in today. One from Bill O'Brien and the other from Sheryl Iovanna. I can't read the postmark on either one so I don't know how efficient the US Postal Service was on these cards.
It's great to get postcards of the different lights I don't already have in my collection.
I sent my cards out this afternoon for the postcard exchange organized by Pharologist. A few of you will receive international cards. I sent them to a few special people and the two members of this exchange that asked for them in this thread.
Those of you that are in both exchanges should not be receiving a duplicate card. I tried hard not to same the same card to the same people.
I got Cape Florida from Oseabee yesterday! I'm sure there will be more today...
This is really cool--I love getting mail! I think when I pick up my cards for this exchange this weekend, I will grab extras for future exchanges. Can't wait to see the look on the face of the person I buy the postcards from....I mean, why would someone buy 50 postcards??? Because they have lots of lighthouse-loving friends, of course.
Recieved two and one half cards today one from Dennis Whelan and one from Sheryl Ivana. The third was a jigsaw puzzle compliments of the postal service I got 4 pieces which I taped together .It is a picture of white river light .I could make out my adress and a small piece of the stamp which had been a ring necked pheasant but no senders name or ID left.thanks for trying if you recognize the card thanks any how.let me know who you are.one of the postal machines must have been hungry.Oh yes the other two were cape lookout N.C. and 5 different N.J. lights including seagirt painted white. oseabee
Four postcards arrived today, two from Mark Wagner and two from Dennis Wheland. The cards were Port of Cleveland, Sandy Hook, Holland Harbor, and Rose Island. Great cards! Thanks guys!
To make my own cards and being a complete novice at computers it was a bit of trial and error. When I figured I had it pretty well down I got some postcard blanks at office depot, using the kodak program that comes with the kodak CD I set up the print setting for 4"x6" and printed them up.Quite easy. received three cards today Lighthouses of New York from Sheryl Lorain Lighthouse from Mark Cape Elizabeth from Bill thanks guys, love the notes you added Darlene
DENNIS, we knew Sea Girt wasn't open except on Sundays. Will be there then. Als plan on visiting Navesink AGAIN!! Everyone is having fun with their postcards but me!!! I have to wait( but I'm picking up enough for the next couple of rounds !!!!!}
Bye for now!! Filled up two disks of photos so far!!

If you get to Absecon and/ or Sea Girt could you see if they got their resupply of post cards?
Both got tapped out before I got there this past weekend. If you can get me 5-10 of each one and I'll reimburse you . If it's not doable, no big deal I'll get there again soon.
Recieved another today point judith R.I. from Bob McKeon. When I was there acouple years ago I got a nice tour of the station and the light.Bill O'Brien oseabee.

We have received a lot of really great postcards. With a few exceptions, the cards arrived in good shape. A few had small tears on the ends and a little wear on the corners. So far we have received:
Our cards will go in the mail today to both groups. We tried something different and are keeping our fingers crossed that they are not completely mangled by the post office.
I have to give a great big thanks to my mother-in-law. She lives in NY and is helping me replenish my post cards for exchange #2. I have sent out a few but the rest of her cards came in the mail today. I have the address labels ready and will start sending out the rest tomorrow! I am still receiving some terrific cards. Thanks for Darlene's and Donna's cards today.
Did anyone set up the list for LHPCE2 for printing on labels -- as Joanne Sinatra did for the #1 exchange? I sure would like to get a list like that to save myself a bunch of cutting and pasting.
If you have it, please email me a copy as a .TXT or .DOC (Word) file.
