I got what I think is a great deal. I bid on a complete set of 24 LLOM on Ebay. I did not meet the resereve, but they offered to accept my last bid and include the S&H in that price. If I had bought them in NJ the total would have been $362 including tax. I paid $280 total for them. that's a savings of over 25%. I'm happy with them- I've got them on display on my entertainment center with my other non Harbour Lights LH's. Dennis

I found a 1997 Collectors Society Piece - Port Sanilac for retail at one of my local stores in Cincinnati last week. They must of did inventory or something for this piece to make it on the shelf. The guy that waited on me thinks someone had it in layaway and didn't pick it up, but he didn't know for sure. So it pays to go in the stores every once in a while to see what goodies might make it from the stockroom to the display case!!!

I found a HL199 Pigeon Point in Gatlinburg at 50% off retail at one of the dealers there. Apparently they had a surplus and wanted to clear some of them out.

Found a charter year Collectors Society Point Fermin cloisonne pin at one of my local dealers. Asked if it was for sale and how much... she gave it to me! WOW!!!
That was the only one I was missing since I didn't join the club until 1996.

I went to my dealer yesterday. As I walk toward the display case I had in my mind already knowing that there wouldn’t be anything unusual. As I looked at the Display case I justified my thoughts. Everything was about the same.

Then I looked at a table that was beside the Display and on top were assorted old brochures. The brochures were complete from January 1995 to June1998. I asked my dealer where they came from. He said that he put them aside to cut the pictures out for posters and displays. But as time past he lost interest and decided to set them out for his customers.

I now have a complete set of Harbour light brochures back to January 95.
http://www.harbourlights.com/publications/brochures/index.htm

The 95 June and the 96 January that I found looks different from the ones that John shows on the web page. Were there more than two brochures for 95 and 96 or is the web page wrong or were there different covers?

You've called up a page from the depths of the web site Daniel. And yes, it looks like I've duplicated some of those covers. I'll try to straighten that out this long weekend.

Although I won't be eating out much in next few months, I was able to pick up limited edition versions of Hilton Head, St. Augustine, St. Simons, and Portland Head for a total of $850 at the Rosemont swap and sell - 4 items from my "I hope to get them someday, but probably not very soon" list. The pieces are all mint except for a tiny ding right at the felt line on the St. Simons piece. Even the boxes and paperwork were included. I'm still not sure why they were left sitting on that particular dealer's table for a half day before I arrived, but there they sat in a nice little grouping. It was probably my negotiating skill that did it. I'll quote my technique - "How much for all four together?" Pretty slick, right.

LOL Well, it won't make for much of novel, but it sure was effective! Congratulations on the great haul.

Good job Gary, that is a great find!
My great find at the Swap & Sell were the two new beanie bears, USA & Areial.
Not quite the same though...

Just found a Point Arena at $2.00 less than retail at a shop I have visited several times. Same old story, we just cleaned out the other warehouse... Watch R@R, there were a number of the original 17 there too.

closing. I got my first Harbor Light
collectable for a great price. Scituate
Mass Light for $45, regularly $85. Just
has a little niche. Best of all I have
been there!!

Well I got a Point Arena today that supposedly had been repaired for $40. The store had two of them, the other one noticibly repaired. The one I purchased didn't look bad at all and when I got it home it started looking better and better. Other than maybe a really tiny line at the base of the tower it looks just fine. I picked it up in the store by the tower and shook it and - nothing. Those rocks that jut out are perfect. After reading the C of A I see that it's located in earthquake country so the way I look at it, if it's got a little blip somewhere it's all the more authentic. In any event I really like it and other than the Pt. Fermin mini, it's my only California light.

My sister came to visit me this weekend from Las Vegas. She was in a store there that had Harbour Lights. She told the sales lady that I collected the lighthouses. The sales lady asked her if she wanted a set of keepers and friends. She told my sister that she had it for a while and it wasn't selling. She sold it to my sister for $20.00. What a sweet deal! Even though I already had a set, I can always use more little people in my display.

Hello Everyone,

Sorry I haven't written lately, but we've just returned from vacation. I had to tell someone of the good fortune that I had this week. We vacationed in Bethany Beach, DE this week. I made it a point to visit all the dealers in the MD and DE area. I found alittle shop named Perfect Furnishings in Bethany that was selling all remaining stock of HL's at 1/2 price. I picked up a Boston Harbour GLOW, Ponce DE Leon GLOW, Barnegat GLOW, Old Saybrook LE all at half price, but
that's not the end of the story... I found a Bass Harbour LE that had a small stain on the bottom felt, that the owner let me have for FREE since I had purchased so many others. In addition, I picked up the Navesink for $90.00. What I though was going to be a regular beach trip, turned out to be a Harbour Lights Bonanza:>). By the time I was leaving, I wished I hadn't spent so much at Disney World the week before:>( Is this a great country or what?

Tony,
Ain't it fun! Love it when you can find them at that price..
Also, looks like a lot of good deals are going on ebay right now.. Not many bids. I think everyone must be on vacation. I got a lot of my lights about this time last year during the summer lull.

Picked up a Southeast Block Island, Limited Edition (#128) Mint condition this week for less that half the book value. If you keep on looking; the bargains are out there. Love my new LE and it looks great in my curio cabinet. Now let me see ... What do I need next? Keep looking they're out there.

Last Wednesday night I.O. and I just happened to pick a motel that was right next to an HL dealer, Christmas Loft in Burlington, Vt. When I checked it out I found they had a very small display but they did have an Amelia Island (#2092) with a "Not for sale" sticker on the bottom. I took it up to the counter and told them that they didn't really need it anymore as it was old so they sold it to me for $30. I also got the rest of the membership stuff that came with it. (I didn't join the Society until '98 so didn't have this one).

When working a few weeks ago, I stopped in to view the H.L. dealer & I found a Gray's Harbor with twisted top. I bought it, but will probably end up selling it.

Went on a Short trip today to see the reinstalled Fresnel Lense at Concord point and stopped by the local HL dealer Katydid's and to my surprise I found on the shelf at retail Middle Bay, AL . They said they did some store room cleaning and found it against the wall covered up. Needless to say they no longer have it due to my purchase.

But wait there is more ............. Still available and at retail .......... yes another one found covered up ........... the 1997 Christmas piece White Shoal, MI and for retail $80.00. Yes it is still there and for sale. They do ship . Katydid's Havre De Grace , MD 1-888-4ka-tydi
