On Saturday 9/22, a group of Eastern Greatlakes Harbour Lights Collectors Club members showed up bright and early to give Ft. Niagara lighthouse a much needed sprucing up. The maintenance dept. provided the equipment and we provided the labor and sweat.

The members adopted Ft. Niagara earlier in the year and are in the beginning stages of starting and learning the ins and outs of the whole restoration process. The first step was a thorough cleaning from TOP -

To BOTTOM -

We even had the mastermind ( without her efforts, our club wouldn't be anywhere near to where it is in just one years time ) down on her knees cleaning away.

With all the sorrow and grief we have all experienced the last few days, it sure felt great to be part of a wonderful group of individuals, who took a few hours out of their weekend to do something positive.
A big THANKS to 16 of our members for taking the time and providing their energy to really put a nice shine on an already beautiful light. We had a great time doing it!

If you are ever in the area, make sure to stop and visit this very beautiful light. We hope in time, to help get the tower open for climbing and really HOPE to get the fresnel lens back in it's rightful place for everyone to see.

What a great job you all are doing! Patty was really into her work and I am sure that the cameraman did his share.....bring more photos to the reunion.

Where's Patty, where's Mike, who are all these wonderful folks? How about putting some "Names with the Faces" and posting the picture again in the following thread:

Keep up the great work. We hope to visit someday.

Mike probably taking the pic, Patty is sitting on the end of the table, Jim Johnson sitting on the left bench.

Looks like they had a great day to work. Someday maybe I'll be able to get over to their part of the world for one of their projects. This is true lighthousing. Good job, guys!

I can't take any credit for the great job that our club did on Saturday, I got there just in time to help put the tools away and sit down for the picture. However, I sure am proud of the job they did, and the lighthouse looks great. A special thanks to both Mike and Patty for all the hard work they have put into the club, and to Harbour Lights, for all the support they have given us.

Yes a big thanks to Patty and Mike. It was so much fun working along with everyone with a great outcome. I hope we will be able to reach our goal of having Fort Niagara relit.
It was well worth the drive...

Your club will make Fort Niagara shine. Looks like you had alot of fun on cleaning day. I think its great fun to adopt a lighthouse and watch the progress people can make when they put their hard work into it. Keep up the good work. From your friends on the western half of the Great Lakes.
