I am leaving tomorrow for Chicago for a week full of lighthousing. I will be gone from the forums for the better part of 10 days.

I will be going up the western coast of Michian all the way to Door County Wisconsin where I will meet up with a bunch of WACKOS for the Door County Trip. From there it will be back to Chicago for Rosemont and the WACKO Gatherings. Hope to se ya'll there.

Re: International Lighthouse Game Part XXXV - 06/21/02 05:05 AM

Have a great time Bryan!

I've been having pc problems and probably won't be playing this game for a while. I'm using my old klunker in the basement which is slower than dirt and all my lighthouses, etc. are on the upstairs one that's kaput. Somehow my modem's not working so I can't connect. My son worked on it this afternoon and got connected but tonight, no dice. And after I got through with it.....well I'll have to see if he can give it a go again tomorrow.

Re: International Lighthouse Game Part XXXV - 06/24/02 03:06 AM

Hi All,

Have been away for a few days to the GA mountains. We visited friends in Clayton. They live on a hillside and the view is breathtaking. They have the most beautiful birds come around, as well.

I'll find a light and post a little later.

Re: International Lighthouse Game Part XXXV - 06/24/02 06:49 PM

Thought I'd check who was playing...it's no fun playing alone!

Sue, how is your computer?

Bryan and Paul are off lighthousing and I will be leaving tomorrow for Chicago. Like John, won't be back until around July 10th.
I'll look for a light and edit this post to post it later today.

Re: International Lighthouse Game Part XXXV - 06/25/02 03:50 AM

Derith, my pc's still in trouble. Am using my son's tonight as it's faster than the old klunker. But I have a bunch of lights bookmarked in mine so guess I won't play for a bit. With everyone taking off anyway I would soon be playing alone too. See you and the rest of the group on Friday!

One of these days I've got to do something about my pc! First it was too hot, then I've been too busy doing the stuff I couldn't get done because it was too hot!

Re: International Lighthouse Game Part XXXV - 07/10/02 07:34 AM

Hi Bryan,

How does one play this game? What's the objective??
Posted By: mombo

Re: International Lighthouse Game Part XXXV - 07/11/02 02:45 AM

Hi Elmer Dan! Each International lighthouse posted must begin with the last letter of any of the words of the previous light posted. In Bryan's last posting Rio is considered a descriptive word to the main name Yaquanbo so he took the Y from his previous post of Tangassery. The next light posted must therefore begin with an "O". Each light posted should also include a link to the lighthouse, including a photo if possible.

You are welcome to try but we have been playing since February of 2001 so it is becoming increasingly difficult to find lights, especially beginning with certain letters. If you elect to play please do a "search" under "lighthouse Games" for the lighthouse you want to post to be sure it hasn't already been used.

The object is simply to see just how many different lighthouses we can come up with. So far we've found over 1400 lights in over 80 countries!

Hi Sue,

Thanks for the info .... sounds pretty cool .... think I'll watch for a while. Is there an ultimate winner of the game? How is it determined who wins??

There really isn't any winners of losers in this 'game'. THe goal is just to see how many lights we can come up with.

Re: International Lighthouse Game Part XXXV - 07/11/02 08:13 PM

Hi Elmer,
I'm Derith aka Nana who also has been playing this game over the last couple of years. We are usually 4 strong but we also like to travel and so we are off and on. The one thing that is not pleasant about this game is the "buzzer" that is used when you post a light that has previously been posted! I seem to have the largest numbers of buzzes, but I keep playing, 'cause for me, there is so much satisfaction in finding a lighthouse that has not surfaced before. There is a great commaraderie among those of us who play. Bryan will be glad to send you an email with his Excel list of lights that have been posted. Come on and join us....
