Hi All!
I'm the green-eyed monster and I'm from northwest NJ. My husband and I have fallen in love with all things "lighthouse" and have already begun visiting as many as possible and getting our lighthouse passports stamped to death! I was really glad to find this site and fellow "lighthouse lovers" such as you. Hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful holiday season so far.

Welcome green-eyed monster! It is great to have a new member of the forum group. I too have started a lighthouse passport. It is fun to have a reminder of the different lighthouses that you have visited with the passport stamps.

Welcome Green-eyed monster! I have green eyes too! I was in your town late one night. I remember stopping in a diner I believed was named the Hackettstown Diner, and consumed a wonderful turkey club at around 0330 hours.

Have you been to Sandy Hook this year? Maybe i was there i'm a volunteer there. today was the last day it was open until next April.

As a brand new HL Collector I guess my first question is where can I get a good book to tell me what I'm doing? LOL Seriously though, is there a collecting book for HL newbies? Pictures, prices, history etc? HELP!

[Lets hear some of those passport stamped adventures.

My favorite lighthouse trip so far was August 1999. My husband and I got married in 1998 but couldn't get any time off work so the next year we took 3 weeks and visited Va. Beach. We stopped at every lighthouse we could find on the way there and back and then drove south to NC and visited the top few lights on the Outer Banks! What a wonderful trip! We took my son (12) with us and he learned so much and had so much fun that now he's a lighthouse junkie too! My husband keeps telling me that we must have seawater and not red blood in our veins! I haven't physically been able to get to any lights since, but you can bet that I will as soon as I can!

I finally made it to Sandy Hook about a week ago! I haven't been able to travel all year and boy was it great to see the ocean again! I grew up in Hackettstown so I may even know your brother!

I believe the 1998 Green Book is still the easist source to get hold of.Unfortunatly, I heard they won`t be putting out another.I`m sure you`ll get other ideas from other Forum members. The Green Book should be available from any online bookstore and a lot of gift shops.Hope that helps some.

Hey Green-Eyed-Monster...looks like were neighbors. (Actually we live in Harmony, NJ). My husband and I also love visiting lighthouses. I have a huge scrapbook with pictures from all the lighthouses we've been to.
Enjoy the forum!!! I'm a junkie... I go on here almost everyday to see what's new and exciting with Harbour Lights and lighthouses. The MAP ROOM is a great place to get directions and ideas of places to saty on your lighthouse visits. HAVE FUN!!

Re: Where are you from? (Part 9) - 01/04/01 04:18 AM

Hello all, I guess I am a newbie here.

I'm relatively new to Harbor Lights, but i've loved lighthouses all of my life. I currently have 6: Amelia Is, St. Augustine, The "New" Tybee Is. (My home light), Cockspur Is, Morris Is. "Now" & Sapelo Is.

My question for anyone who can help me is: Does anyone know of any organized preservation &/or historical associations that cover ALL Georgia lighthouses (not just one lighthouse)? So far, my internet searches have turned up nothing.

Thanks for your help!

not exactly a newbie- just don't post as much as I'd like- kids ya know! LOL
But I would like to introduce myself. My name is Karen and I live just over the state line in Wisconsin between Mil. and Chicago. I go to the Rosemont collectors show every year and usually go to both days of the Harbour Lights "meetings" (or whatever they are called) I see alot of you there- all with your wacko name tags on!! I guess I'll have to earn one of those and wear it this year! just wanted to say "HI"

Welcome< Karen.

By all means, you should join us at the 'Wacko meeting' this year at Chicago -- as should all fellow collectors, whether they've achieved official Wacko status or not.

Watch the forum on the Navy Pier Collectibles Show for details as we get closer to the date.

Re: Where are you from? (Part 9) - 01/16/01 03:46 PM

Hi Lainey, and welcome aboard. We are certainly glad you have joined us. Well, from personal experiences and as far as I'm concerned, the best lighthouse line to purchase is Harbour Lights! You will not find another company who is in touch with their collectors. When you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. There are a lot of knowledgable collectors in these Forums.

Hi Lainey,
Welcome to the forums. I'm not sure what passport you are talking about but I think you are referring to the lighthouse passport put out by the U.S. Lighhouse Society. They sell the passport at several participating lighthouses and they can stamp your passport when you visit the lighthouse. You can also write the U.S. Lighthouse Society, 244 Kearny Street, San Francisco, CA 94108. I think I paid $6 or $7 for my passport. I enjoy looking back at the different places I have visited.

Discussion on passports is a little off topic, so I surfaced an old thread down in the Lighthouse Duty forum. or you can take the express - Passport Discussion

Hi Everyone!!
Just another newbie here. I've been registered for a while but have been a little shy. I live in Wisconsin and have been to all the WI lights except the Lake Superior ones, I hope to see them this summer. I have been collecting HL since 1999. As of today we (my boyfriend and I) have about 75 but that number seems to grow all the time!
