Legacy - Vol 8, No. 4 Arrives

Legacy - Vol 8, No. 4 Arrives - 11/21/01 05:51 AM

The new Legacy arrived today --
great picture of Jakers on page 6; pictures from the Collectors Reunion; info on the 2002 in store event piece--Hannibal, Missouri Lighthouse and the regional event piece--Tomkins Lighthouse, NY; and on the last page is a picture of myself and Big Al; since I am home with strep and bronchitis it was a welcome read; also my Pharos collection arrived today -- maybe I should get sick more often

Darlene,

It's not often one can be happy about being sick and home in bed. But you certainly picked a fine time for it. Get well soon and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Looks good, Paul. Thanks for sharing the pic. Maybe that will be the version I'll purchase. I doubt that I'll buy all four versions of the same light.

Bob, I would almost bet money that you will get all four! How could you have the "whole" collection without them! (LOL)

(Well, except for Coquille!!)

Gravedigger: That is exactly what I thought when I first saw this piece posted on Terry Bronze Lady's website.

Looks like a spooky haunted house. Perhaps the Fall version (Halloween Edition) could come with spider webs hanging from the lantern room and chimneys and the Munster's funny car!

Where or where is that U.S Postal Service Mail Mule Train that has my Legacy. By the time that I get my copy I don't even have to read it. I already know what's going on, who did it and how it happened. I sure wish that these were sent out something other than 20 Mule Train.

It hasn't made it to Michigan yet either. I truly believe the mail is moving slower since 9/11.

Maybe it will come tomorrow.

Well it is now the evening of 12/2 and no legacy yet. The mule train must be the slug train. Maybe by spring it will be here.

The mule/slug train made it to Holland today. (12/3) Pretty cool newsletter even if it took 3 eternities to get here.

Mules haven't made it into the mountains of Western NC yet. I think that I still get mine before most of Florida (where I moved from in Jan'01). By the way they have a strange tradition at the USPS here in Murphy, if I mail a leter to my next door neighbor it must first be trucked 120 miles north to Asheville, sorted and then trucked back to Murphy. This means that it takes a minimum of 5 days!! to go 200 yds!

Still waiting for the Legacy here in Mid-Michigan....

It seems that every time the latest Legacy comes out, a thread like this one comes out too. People waiting and waiting for for their issue....

(Start Soapbox Mode)

It is time that we as collectors contact Harbour Lights and tell them that we are willing to pay for first-class delivery of the Legacy. Just tack it onto the good old bargain society membership price.

I realize that not everyone is interested in receiving the Legacy in a timely manner or would be willing to pick up the cost of first-class postage. Maybe it could be an option.

(End Soapbox Mode)

Well, we are still waiting for our Legacy here in Mid-Michigan......

Re: Legacy - Vol 8, No. 4 Arrives - 12/01/01 04:03 AM

I'm with you Todd. How much could 1st class postage add to the membership cost? Maybe $3-$4 dollars a year? They only mail out the 4 issues and I sure would like to get them before I know everything that's in them. I think I'll call HL Monday and chime in about this. Any other takes?

I agree, it's worth a few extrabucks to get them in the same month as the rest of the world. I thik we should ALL ask HL to up the membership by $2/year for the four 1st class mailings!!!!

Those ole USPS mules must be working pretty hard now as my copy arrived on Saturday, December 1st, in Northern Virginia.

This is the fastest that I have ever received a "Legacy". I guess it is safe to say that my membership account has been straightened out now.

The accompanying Christmas card was nice...thanks HLs! Neat sketches...

Legacy has arrived in Massachusetts, so has the December issue of Lighthouse Digest. There is a neat Christmas picture of Maine's Little River Lighthouse on the cover. Check it out. Several days of good reading this week!

Re: Legacy - Vol 8, No. 4 Arrives - 12/04/01 03:45 AM

My Legacy arrived in today's mail. That is just 13 days since the first post by LADYBUG indicating she had received hers in WA. No speeding violations would be issued on that delivery.

Re: Legacy - Vol 8, No. 4 Arrives - 12/04/01 04:43 AM

But not bad, Bob. This is Bulk Rate (Third Class) mail. Every post office it goes through has to work it within 5 days of getting it.

In other words, each post office can hold it for 5 days before passing it on.

Some mail to metro centers out of San Diego go directly to that city and could arrive in up to 10 days (San Diego 5 days, receiving post office 5 days.)

Mail that's bound for the boonies might go through two (or more) additional post offices from the metro to a regional and finally to the local PO, adding up to 15 more days.

I say "Isn't this a great country; where you can send out 40,000 pieces of mail for about 15 cents each and have 90-95% delivered within a couple of weeks of each other."

Nice picture of Yerba Buena on the cover Derith! How'd you manage to get on the Coast Guard base. You must have some good contact to get so close to the Commanders house.Sttill good reading but sit just not the same. Oh well, I tried.
