2002 Wacko Badge Order Form

Thanks for putting together the great form, John. It works! (Trust me, there are already 28 badges ordered!) John was the first person to order his Wacko Name Badge. He did have a bit of an unfair advantage in that he had exclusive access to the order form until he posted the message above.

Congratulations to the first person without "inside access" to order their name badges, Scott & Christi Hardin and daughter Beth, The Lighthouse Ghost family.

This is a great start! With all of your help we will be able to contribute a nice amount to the South East Block Island light at the conclusion of our project. Don't have to get in a hurry to order these as this will be an ongoing project. Share with your club and friends. You do not have to have achieved the "Wacko" designation in the Forums to order a name badge. (Our belief is that if you are Wacko enough to want one that is good enough!)

Dave: Have been ill and just now catching up on the Forums. I just want to say that I think your idea for a lanyard and badge is terrific. And the wacko pin committee appreciates your wonderful idea to coordinate both your and John's project with the wacko pin project in terms of raising money for the Southeast Block Island lighthouse, which is the one the Forum members chose. This double donation should show their Board how dedicated the Forum readers are in saving lighthouses.

I hope this will become an annual project on your part and that you will consider sending the donations to the same lighthouse as appears on future Wacko pins, as a way to strengthen the over-all donation amount.

I am curious about the width of the lanyard you will be using, only because I spent some holiday time this year at Disney World, where pin collecting is now the HOT activity for adults there. Disney is selling an inch-wide black lanyard for pin collectors to display their Disney pin collection and it is quite a striking method.

If your lanyard is that wide, it would be a handy place for us all to wear and display our Wacko pins. I tried it out, and the St. George pin looks great as the two pin backs run vertically. The Morris Island pin runs horizontally and fits best at the very end of the lanyard where the two fabric straps make a "V". The HL Society pins would look very attractive also on this lanyard. Sort of like wearing all of your Boy Scout or Girl Scout badges on display!! Maybe you could keep this idea in mind when you decide upon the width of your lanyard.

Just a brief note: The Wacko 2002 pin order forms are about to come online, as the design is headed for China. May both of these projects be a huge success and raise a lot of money for a very needy lighthouse --- Southeast Light on Block Island.

The lanyards are 5/8" wide. You could attach a pin to them, but they are not designed for that purpose so I don't know how many I would try to attach. I would think a pin should not be an issue. I considered a wider lanyard, but the cost difference was significant (like $1 and up). Since the lanyards are somewhat of an experiment, we didn't want to get too pricey.

As we get feedback from folks this year maybe we will look at a wider version for another go-round.

I also belong to the Florida Lighthouse Society, but I haven't joined a specific FL club.

Just got my official 2002 Harbour Lights Connected Collector badge from DaveH.

To update everyone on what is happening with the Wacko Name badges:

As John mentioned, some have already been produced and delivered (but without the lanyards). I took the Derby City Lights folks theirs yesterday, and a certain LI family has theirs for when they see Bill tomorrow. There are 83 orders so far, most also opting for the lanyard (you do need someplace to hang the name badge from, and you should be able to also use it to display the Wacko Pin). The lanyards should be here by mid-March.

As soon as I receive the lanyards I will be shipping out the badges that have been ordered and paid for. If you have not yet sent in your payment, please do so. Last night I sent an email to everyone from whom I have received payment. If you have sent payment and did not receive the email, please contact me. (Dixie, you need to send me an email - yours was returned undeliverable.)

Please encourage your collector friends and club members to order a name badge. I am hoping to send the Block Island South East folks a donation of more than $1000 when this project concludes. To be able to do this, we need to sell lots of badges! Hey, you can't go to a signing or a regional without your Wacko Badge (it is against the rules - read the fine print).

Paul has shared a great picture with all of us and John has provided the format for the name badge. Thanks to them, to all who have ordered and all of you about to order for your support of this project.

The lanyards are here!

I have been getting badges and lanyards ready to mail. Hopefully will get the first of them into the mail Tuesday or Wednesday. If you have ordered, but not yet sent your payment please do so so I can get yours into the mail.

Yes, I thought that was strange that the nickname had to be at least 5 characters long. In fact, an entry in this field shouldn't be mandatory at all, since sales were opened up to friends of Wackos.

The first wave of badges were mailed out Wednesday. I would hope you should have yours (if it was to be mailed) by Monday or Tuesday. Some of you who ordered a single badge will probably be cussing me as you try to get it unpacked - sorry, but the PO said to do 'em that way.

About 75% of the badges ordered have been mailed. Recently ordered ones (last week or so) will hopefully bein the mail by Monday. If you have ordered a badge and have not sent payment, please do so. I believe that I have sent emails to everyone I have received a check from as of 3/15's mail.

I just ordered my badge and lanyard, but I noticed that the Houston Light Keepers is not a choice as far as club affiliation on the order form. I know that we are new, however, could we possibly have it put on the badges? I had dinner w/ Chuck and his wife last night and he mentioned that they ordered some as well. Thanks!

The reviews are coming in, the badges are a hit! It is not too early to order your 2002 Official Wacko Badge and lanyard! There are still a bunch of you out there who should be getting yours ordered. Do you want to go to a Bill event, or heaven forbid, to a Regional Event, and not have your badge?????

The deadline for ordering a badge to be delivered at the NJ Regional will be next Monday, the 25th. After that time there will be a production stoppage for spring break.

Let's get 'em ordered - show your Wacko pride and order your name badge and lanyard (the lanyard is also a great place to display your wacko pin). Remember that these projects are raising funds to help Block Island SouthEast light - you can make a difference.
