Ok kiddies, Marco has emerged from his lab in the FSB with a nifty trick. By now you've seen the ChiSox logo next to his name. Shazzam - how did he do it? With HTML, of course. Here's some sample code... 1. Go to your profile settings - via a link available at the upper right of most forum pages. Remember this? Its where you entered your name, town, interests, etc. 2. We're gonna use the space allotted for 'City State Country' to insert a picture. 3. Here's the sample code: - replace the 'yourISP.com ... etc. with your own information. - max size is 30x30 - if your picture/image is larger than that you can reduce it using the 'width' and 'height' parameters as shown in the example. - max length of the string specifying your picture is 150 characters. - if you exceed max size or max length, it won't work. (At least it didn't for me.) Post your trials here - if you need more help, leave a message. Also - the change does not appear immediately retroactive to prior messages. Do you make housecalls, Dr. Tim? |

Didn't work the first time, cause I put it in the Interests section. Let's see if I follow Dr. Tim's instructions if it will work right. |

Very neat trick, but ... I can see Sean's several CG flags and I can see something in JC's posts. But Tim, for you all I see is the dreaded 'broken link' graphic. Right click and 'Show Graphic' doesn't do it either. Am I missing something to be able to see all of them? Rick |

With the ELF franchise fees we get from the sub boys and a few odd FSB frequent hooter miles I've decided to splurge. Looks like some folks are trying but not having any luck. Let me know if you need help. Post your code here if questions. Good thing we bought those surplus isotopes from Star City.

Ok, I noticed thats Sean's image was now down one line below the From:. so I tried to use the line break to move the image down one line and all the way over to the left side So if you use this in front of your image HTML address it will kick it down one line and to the left <br> [This message has been edited by Mark Wagner (edited 03-23-2001).] |

I think there is a problem pulling images from geocities sites. They want you to GO there so they can bombard you with ads. Digger was having these problems with his images of the Eddystone painting until I moved them to lighthousekeepers.com I moved the image Tarbaby. John PS Pretty neat trick hiding those 'edited by' messages Tim! [This message has been edited by JChidester (edited 03-24-2001).] |

In testing w/ Terry I came to the same conclusion - his code was fine and it was probably a problem with Geocities. __ |

You can get around the 150 max character thingie by entering your HTML in Notepad or something similar, then copy and "Ctrl-V" into the form field where you wish the icon to appear. I modified my HTML to link the animated GIF (exhibit: top left) and to have the link open in a new window. I used a string that is 181 characters long with success: Jackson, TN, USA<br><a href=http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/muddaubersilh/Home.html target="blank"><img src="http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/muddaubersilh/images/cursor.gif" border=0></a> -------------- |

There's tons of stuff on the Web. Do a search on 'animated gif' and you'll find lottsa sites w/ free animated pictures. Ones which have a transparent background work best. __ [This message has been edited by JTimothyA (edited 04-06-2001).] |
