Let's say you got to pick 4 new upcoming releases this year...which would they be? I'd like to see: American Shoal, FL - the rust-red spider tower with lots of huge blue-green waves. Old Cape Arago, OR - a charming house and tower on a bluff above the stormy Pacific. Mile Rocks, CA - California's long-gone "Minot's Ledge". Saddleback Ledge, ME - Another great candidate for a "Then & Now" set! Next?

Head Harbor Lighthouse, NB Old & New Presque Isle, MI (set) Sand Hills, MI (UP) East Quoddy Head Lighthouse, NB I realize that is a total of five, but then it was the 'fab five' that played at the University of Michigan. You could also count the Presque set as one, if it just has to be the fab four. You could also count Head Harbor Lighthouse and East Quoddy Head as one, since it is the same lighthouse. Head Harbor is the real name but East Quoddy is the popular name. WackoPaul |

The Fab 4? That's easy! That is the fire station I work out of, but for Harbour Light releases, in no particular order: 1. Old & New Presque Isle, MI (matched set) 2. Rock of Ages, MI 3. Absecon Light, NJ 4. Little Sable Point, MI (should have been a matched set with Big Sable Point) -Todd |

Fab 4??? Ship John Shoals East Quoddy American Shoals North Light, Block Island, RI In my estimation the real Fab 4 would be John Chidester, Paul Brady, Sean Thompson, and Fred Kuhlman. They should be the models for Keepers & Friends II. {{I saw the Harbour Lights! }} [This message has been edited by Bob M (edited 03-19-99).] |

Au Sable, MI http://www.ipl.org/exhibit/light/GL/AuSable.html Copper Harbor, MI New & Old Presque Isle, MI Gasparilla Island, FL I could also buy into Whitefish, but figure that is going to be more of a limited edition monster if they do it right. Dave (OK John - where'd my links go? They were OK & I went in to edit a boo-boo and now they are dead.) [This message has been edited by engbrady (edited 03-22-99).] |

There are so many yet to do but I would like to see: 1) New London Harbor, CT (aka Pequot Light with the Nautilus passing by). 2) Owls Head, ME (with the high cliffs, long stairs and windswept trees & old Spot pulling the fogbell's rope). 3) Race Rock, NY (standing a lonely, but proud duty in the waters of Long Island Sound). 4) Rockland Breakwater, ME (with a bit of the mile-long breakwater). For those who have not heard about "Spot" before on Ron's "Owl's Head" comment: He was the keeper's dog, who is buried at the light. He was trained to run out to the fog signal building when he heard or "sensed" a boat coming, jump up, and pull the rope setting off the fog horn to warn the ships off the rocks. During a winter storm, Spot could not find the rope in the snow when he heard the Matinicus to Rockland mail boat returning. Not giving up so easily, he proceeded to bark wildly along the cliff's edge until he heard the ship's bell, confirming that the boat had cleared the bluffs. -RodW |

My picks for the Fab 4 (in no particular order): Mile Rock, CA (the 1st lighthouse I ever saw!) Cape Hatteras moving Skerries Light, UK (it's on the isle of Anglesey) for the GLOW collection Point Bonita, CA (it's interesting-one walks through a tunnel in the cliff, complete with a door, then out over a bridge to the light. Could be a really impressive piece if the surroundings are included.)The 2nd lighthouse I saw. The third has already been done-Pigeon Point!

Dove, it is now the policy of HL not to do a lighthouse as a GlOW before its Limited Edition run! But nonetheless an excellent choice! |

O.K.-then forget the GLOW. Just make Skerries as something-even a thumbnail! (Sorry, I'm "stuck" on thumbnails right now!) Here's another one: Point Reyes, CA-all those steps!! Could be impressive! Can't leave those steps out! I don't remember how many there are, but I'm not sure I want to know-my knee has told me it's too many! (Or so it thinks-hasn't stopped me yet from going to "see the light"!) |

I know I'm new here, but since I used to live on the North Carolina Outer Banks, halfway between Bodie Island and Currituck Beach Lights, I'm going to give you my list for "Fab Four" anyway. 1. Cape Romain, SC There are two lights on the Island. The old and the new tower are still both standing. Even though both are out of service. Would make another Cape Henry, as the lights are side by side. 2. Sapelo Island, GA Would make a great "then and now," however this outcome is much better than Morris Island. The light was restored and relit last year after being out of service since 1905. 3. Any Florida Reef light. Fowey Rocks, American Shoal, etc... I just love the open steel frame style lights. 4. Oak Island NC I know it's really just a grain shilo with a light at the top, but it's the only active light in North Carolina, that hasn't been done. I need all the lights form my home state!!!! There you have it. I know the Florida reef lights are on many lists, but I don't remember seeing any of the others. |

Thought I'd resurrect this thread in hopes of getting responses from others, especially newer Forum registrants. Harbour Lights DOES listen to their collectors and input from collectors seems to play a very significant part in deciding what lighthouses get modelled next. So, what would YOU like to see HL make? It could be specific lighthouses, or more spyglass sets, or more miniatures, more GLOWS, more ornaments, more Keeper's and Friends, more screwpiles, more lighthouses of a particular state. It could be a theme like Lady Lightkeepers, or Then and Now. It could be almost anything. So let's hear it - what do YOU have to say? ------------------ |
