Got this request by email: If you know of such a lighthouse, please reply directly to the lady:

quote:
I am writing an article about lighthouses where individuals can volunteer to
become a keeper (like at Rose Island Lighthouse where you can be "Keeper of
the Week"). Do you know any other lighthouses in the U.S. that offer this
possibility?

Thanks,

I believe that Seguin Island Light in Maine also hires folks for caretakers in the summer. Here is their website.

The Apostle Islands in Wisconsin have at least two LH's that you can volunteer. I know for sure Sand Island has volunteers because when I was there a teacher from Kansas City was working for the summer.

Big Sable Light in Ludington, MI has volunteer keepers during the summer months. I believe you have to be a member of their group and go through an interview process.

Here's one!
It's a working lighthouse and bed 'n breakfast. Guests become assistant keepers and help to maintain the station.
