Well, my wife's copy of the Lighthouse Legacy arrived today. Among the highlights:

  • Jaker's photo of Split Rock on the Cover
  • Teen Corner, featuring our own Jakers - one photo even shows him with Bill, Paul & I at Rosemont 99
  • Nice story on Rich Rohweder's display of his collection at College of the Redwoods -- with photos of the display.
  • Letter to the editor from one Dave Hannum wondering how Harbour Lights chooses which lighthouse to sculpt and how long it takes. [sounds like a shill to me DaveH; who put you up to that question?]
  • Photo of Brian Seltzer's son Matthew at 13 months
  • Unlabeled mini photos of 6 new Harbour Lights sculptures. One is Mombo's Choice Sister Island NY. I'll let you all receive your Legacy newsletters and ID the others.
  • Story on the 'latest' features at www.HarbourLights.com

Oh, and this 'Stephen Sostaric' surely must win a prize for mentions on the greatest number of on the most pages in a Harbour Lights newsletter (to a non Younger).

  • Cover photo
  • In the Winner's List on page 5
  • 'Teen Corner' feature story on page 7 with two photos

Did I miss any Jakers? And is that Highland Indiana, or Highland Illinois?

Jakers will be signing Lighthouse Legacy's at Rosemont. Don't forget your Sharpie, Stephen.

Okay Jakers, if the mule train gets the new Legacy that you dominate, I'll bring it to Rosemont for you to sign.

Let me see....if John just got his, I should receive mine around July 4. Maybe we can convince HL to use Pony Express instead of Wagon Train to get the papers out to the east coast sooner... lol !

Well, now the clock starts to see how long it takes this issue to arrive. I waited a month the last two times and had to call HL to get another one sent. Never did see the original mailing. Time will tell.

    John,
Sounds like a set up from your request for things for the FAQ page. When the lady who does the writing e-mailed me for city & state I didn't figure what "question" she was refering to & told her it must have been someone else in the forums who sent the message. lol.

Jim, did you pay to renew your membership? Maybe the mailman is starting his own collection.

Hey Dave, Your picture is in this Legacy too.
On page 5 under Fun and Games. Third photo down, left hand side, way in the back. The same photo was posted by Paul last month on the forums.

Now for those who don't get their Legacy or are getting them late. It was suggested on one of the chats that they increase membership by $5.00 and send them 1st class. If you belong to GLLKA that is an option that they have with their membership. Maybe Harbour Lights can do the same.
Now you can go ahead and blame the Post Office if you like, but please don't blame your carrier. If we don't have it, we can't deliver it. The letter carriers job is the only job in the post office that is not sub-contracted. I believe it's because no sane person wants to do it.

My Lighthouse Legacy arrived here in New Jersey on the 12th, same day that John's wife got hers in Arizona. Go figure.

Tim H... regarding the 10:00 p.m. chat; I believe it is scheduled that way so the west coasters can have at least some time after work and the dinner hour to get online and join in. The other weekly time (9:00 p.m.) is more suited for us east coasters. Everyone else in between gets to pick and choose. I appreciate John C., and the folks with HL who want to be fair with everyone... even those of us who live in the "eastern correct" time zone. Just kidding! Now... about the Legacy. I have no explanation as to why some receive it faster than others. Could it be that HL ships out according to society number?

Don't think so Tim. I'm a charter member and still haven't gotten mine, and I'm even in it.

Which reminds me; sorry John. I sent a copy of the pictures to Kim and gave a set to Paul Brady at Hatteras. Still haven't figured out my scanner. I'm ashamed at my lack of computer capabilities. But I will continue to collect HL's anyway.

More likely by zip code for pre-sorting. But I agree the distribution does seem somewhat, uh, randomized.

The newsletter goes out by Bulk Mail (Third Class). It is probably zip sorted since that will mean it can be mailed at a lower rate than non-zip sorted.

But third class is third class. I believe I have it correct that it supposed to be 'worked' within 5 days of receipt by any post office along the way. Depending on how the mail is routed, it could be held up at several post offices.

It is all dropped in San Diego on the same or two consecutive days.

Any postal people here who can confirm or correct this?

It's the 17th and after the reviews I have read I am now getting eager to see the issue.

have we figured out the distribution status or the referendum to first class mailings?

    Just asking,

My husband told me I had a couple pieces of mail when I got home. What a joy to see that the Legacy was among the pieces. I sat right down and read it from cover to cover.

Jakers, do you have your Sharpies ready for signing at Rosemont? I am putting my issue in the suitcase.

The picture of Donna brought back memories of a mini Wacko reunion we had in NY last year. Good memories.

Now, I am waiting for my society pieces. And waiting and waiting and waiting....

That Legacy train just arrived in Jacksonville. Got my copy today and immediately sat down to read it. As usual the contents are great. Always worth waiting for, just hard to hear everyone else talking about it for ten days or so. The last two issues I never did receive. HL, of course, sent additional copies. I think the mailman likes them as much as I do.

Yay! Legacy arrived in northern (er, central) California! Even though it's small and in black & white, the brief shot of Hereford Inlet Xmas piece already has me drooling! The detailed front porch looks awesome!

I received my SW Reef and Lighthouse Legacy late last week. I'm still awaiting Boca Grande, but it should be here soon. The Legacy was a good read, especially the piece on the couple who made their own lighthouse out of that block of wood.
