I must say, I sit here tonight watching the Weather Channel, a nervous wreck... Not because of my own proximity to Hurricane Dennis (i'm about 90 miles from the coast, so we'll be OK), but I fret worrying about Sand Island Lighthouse. Now that the course has shifted again to the West, it's on a collision course with Sand Island, and with the damage sustained during Ivan, I don't think Sand Island can hold up to Dennis. There are many lighthouses that could be impacted by this hurricane, Sand Island, Pensacola, the LA lights, among others...

Obviously, if anyone hears anything about any of the Gulf Coast lights after it's all over, please post it here. I will have my fingers crossed not only for everyone's safety, but also for the safety of our historic beacons of the South... It'll be a long night!!!
