Those were all great gifts! I actually have a 1927 Team set of 10 figures on a walnut base featuring Murderer's Row, and a paperback book to go with it. I have all the b/w Yankee Championship Team pictures for the 50's and 60's. (I heard John C. might have all the Arizona Championship Team pictures?)
Legend has it that Fred was best friends with Lou Gherig growing up. Maybe even roommates at Columbia University? (Totally unsubstantiated but interesting...no?)
