There was a time in America when you and your neighbor or friend could support opposing candidates and you didn't have to become enemies over it. You could just have a difference of opinion.

Over the years, America has become more polarized - more extreme on both ends of the political scale.

I don't think when the constitution was written the framers had in mind the rise of political parties. (My opinion only of course.)

(Is that too political a statement for the Forums?)
