Thanks for all the info about the trips. I tried to get to the coastline NC/SC/GA last summer but didn't make it work - hard to find a place to stay. I'm changing jobs so now I may be able to take a trip there in the fall. This thread has given me lots of good info for a possible vacation. Any other tips about where to stay in the fall? I'm thinking I'll start along the southern VA coast and work my way south seeing all the lighthouses I can. Any other things I need to consider?
