The Suffolk County Parks Department and the Long Island Chapter of the US Lighthouse Society have begun discussions regarding the stabilization and preservation of the Cedar Island lighthouse. A meeting to begin a dialogue was held on September 21 and the County was quite receptive. Expect to see a positive partnership emerge to help save this lovely lighthouse.
