I stayed overnight in Alpena and on Friday it was off to Forty Mile Point, the Great Lakes Festival, and finally a boat cruise out to Middle Island to visit it’s off shore light. “Try now we can only lose …..”

As you’ll note from the last picture all the money that was collected for the Middle Island restoration efforts can and, I’m sure, will be put to good use. Even though the keeper’s house is in pretty rough shape, it is obvious that a lot of outstanding work has already been performed.

After leaving the island, it was time for a quick bite to eat and head off for the semi-long journey home (approx. 250 miles and a little over 4 hours) “Come on baby, light my fire. Come on baby light my fire.”
