Headed out 4:30 AM eastern for a 6:30am flight. Spent an hour on the ground being de-iced on the way to Portland by way of Chicago. Our transfer plane from Chicago was held for us, and we were greeted at the Gate (after our best 'amazing race' dash from Gate C17 to Gate A14) with we were the last plane out of LI. - everything was shut down because of the ice storm. We arrived in Portland OR at 11am, rented our SUV (Dodge Nitro - Cooper color), checked in early at the Holiday Inn Express and we were off to lunch by 1pm. After finding a new Italian restauraunt for eggplant panenies we were off to the Historic Columbia River Highway. We climbed 5 waterfalls and saw some teriffic views on a 72 degree sunny day before calling it a day.
