In order to reduce the downtime, the forum upgrades were started at 2:15 am EST and were completed by 2:30 am EST.

Current Board version is: 4.81 and the following features were added:

1. Changed the thread pages from being dynamically created each time to static HTML pages. This should reduce the number of server calls by at least a third. This also means that all thread pages will be able to be picked up by the major search engine spiders. The other forum pages are still dynamically created.

2. Improved the Style variables page of the Control Panel.

3. Added support for UNIX sendmail as an alternative to the current Sockets approach for the UBB email functions.

4. Added new icons for email, profile, and edit.

5. Improved the "new message" lights and colored folder notification system.

6. Added user profile info to the user permissions settings in the Control Panel.

7. Added support for smilies and frowns. Type or and a graphical representation will be displayed.

8. Removed troublesome "Document.write" statements that were causing some browers problems.
9. Condensed code to display equally well on both javascript and non javascript browsers (though some higher-end functions still require javascript).

10. Fixed the "edit subject" function in the
control panel.

11. Adjusted javascript form validation, which was causing some AOL users.

12. Added new variable: BB Title Font Color, which is the font color of the BB Tittle that appears only on the first forum list screen.

13. Added code that prevents the Sockets module from being called by the script if the user is not actually using Sockets.

14. Added Email Block feature (in general variables of control panel). Admins can effectively prevent user's email addresses from being viewed online. Admins may still access user email info through the control panel however. (Tech note: this is only a concern now that the board is html and search engine friendly. It is now unfortunity siphon friendly for email programs.)

16. Added 5 new graphics for the control panel.

17. Allowed preservation of smilies and frowns, even when editing.

As you can see it was a very major upgrade and they will keep coming. Even better features are in the works.

Enjoy and test the new features like this.
