This lighthouse has been for sale for some time. A couple years ago they were looking for around a half mil. When I corresponded with the owner before visiting she told me it had been previously owned by her folks or her husband's folks, can't remember which, who bought it when it was taken out of service. There is a light on a skeletal tower nearby. I believe there is also a bit of the base of the original tower on the property but I didn't see it. I'd heard that one of the reasons these folks wanted to sell was because of all the people who were always coming to see it, and not being very respectful of the owner's privacy. When I made contact in advance, however, they had no problem with my walking the grounds for photos. It is a lovely secluded spot. The shoreline is rocky and there's plenty of it. The sunsets must be gorgeous. Now the winters, that's another story when that west wind blows off the lake! The tower needed a paint job a couple years ago. Given that western exposure, it's no wonder.
