You have just visited two of my favorite places on Earth. Maybe Currituck's money came from the fee they charge to climb the light? As for the name Body's Island. That was the original name. Some one who couldn't spell or did not like the spelling of it changed it to Bodie. At least that's what I was always told when I asked.

As an aside I wish I was there. Your discription of Currituck with the gray clouds and geese flying over relly remind me of Winter days when I lived in Kill Devil Hills.
