A few weekends ago, on the way to visit my son at his home in Poughkeepsie NY, I decided to visit 3 lighthouses that I've been traveling by but had never made the time to stop. They were all right there but when you're trying to get someplace or return home... I was given a window of time to complete my objective since my son had to close out his monthly sales and could not meet us earlier.

First Stop- Throgs Neck NY on the campus of the Merchant Marine Academy. It is the first exit going north over the Trogs Neck Bridge. It's literally 500 yards on the right after going through the toll booth. There's a guard at gate but the gate was open and I didn;t make any eye contact going through. It's wide open parking right across from LH, and you can see Stepping Stones from the park next to the LH.

Second Stop - Tarrytown LH in Sleepy Hallow. LH can be seen from Kingsland Point Park which is at the end of Palmer Ave. Palmer Ave is the key to getting to the park as I didn't see any signs until we were at the entrance. We stoppped at Wasabi for sushi and were presently surprised at the great inexpensive lunch memo.

Third Stop - Across the Tappen Zee to the NY Thruway and north to Stony Point Battlefield Park. Very cool little park with lots of bunkers and Revolutionary War stuff with the bonus of a Lighthouse.

A cut across the Bear Mountain Pkwy to the Taconic and 40 minutes later we were in Poughkeepsie.
