Here's hoping this new thread will bring some Coasties aboard. Maybe a few former members (I know there is not such thing as an ex-Coastie) might come by to visit.

Since I've posted the first topic at this new thread, I'll ask if any of you ever met a Coastie by the name of Thomas Smith a.k.a. "Smitty". He entered the USCG is '65 and stayed until his 4-year hitch was up. I still remember his service number: 354119. He spent a couple of years stationed in Hawaii and traveled to Japan, New Zealand, Austrailia, Anartica, etc. He later went into the Merchant Marines and sailed everywhere around the world. He was also a member of the USCG Reserve out of St. Pete in FL. He just retired from that about a year or so ago.

Smitty and I have been friends since we were four years old. He lives in Citra, FL now.

Anybody ever cross paths with him?
