On Saturday, Christina and I did something that we almost never do....GO WEST! One great thing about living in NC is that we have a great coastline and a great mountain range that are both easily accessable with a lot of activites to do and places to go.

While not the intended stop along the trip, we drove by Pilot Mt. on the way up into the mountains and went by on the way home for some photo opportunities.

For those of you who may not be familiar with Pilot Mt., here is the official web site.

Anyway, to some photos.

Here is the few of the pinnacle from the overlook.

The view with a pine tree in the fore ground.

Just before you get to the overlook, a trail begins that takes you out to the base of the pinnacle, which you can walk around. You use to be able to climb a fire escape type stairway to the top, but since someone fell some time back, that is no longer possible.

Some rocks over head along the base of the pinnacle.
