1853 - Cedar Point Lighthouse began to serve as a Rear Range Light

From 1853 to 1904, this lighthouse served as a rear range light; a front range beacon was added about 265 feet north of the lighthouse. The front light was destroyed by fire in 1910. The tower was removed from this lighthouse and the building was used by the Lighthouse Service and Coast Guard until 1975. It was acquired by the Cedar Point Amusement Park around 1990. The building was renovated and the tower was rebuilt in 2000-2001.
