Art, you have it although the website for the North Point Lighthouse friends, the group now managing the property indicates that the old tower was 39' and the new tower was 35' for a total of 74', but I too have seen 30' for the addition on other websites.

Below is a link to the very nice wesite maintained by the Friends with a nice banner photo showing clearly where the 2 towers were joined. Another interesting fact is the old tower was made up of cast iron plates whereas the new base was made of steel. It must have been an interesting job in 1912 to build the top of the new tower to match the base and octagonal shape and taper of the old tower.
