Yes it is a fan with a light.. It would get hot in the lantern room during the day so the fan would keep the air moving. When you would stay overnight you had full access to the lantern room day or night.

It's a great place to vacation, the breakfasts were/are superb.. It's been a few years since we have stayed there. We have stayed there twice, once in 1996 and once in 2001.
