The Coquille going for $860 in no way reflects a down turn in its value. Jim Rutherford has a very good article in the Guilding Light depicting this same situation of how improperly selling on ebay can make a collectable look like it is becoming less valuable. As John stated, it was misspelled. So that someone doing a search for a Coquille would have missed it. In addition, the seller had no references what so ever. The description also gave me negative feedback. Depicting its condition as Good to great condition does not sound very appealing. To a coin collector good condition means that at least you can read the date. They should have attached a picture and pointed out why it was not mint. The seller also could have said something about it. Like ”kept in smoke free environment”.
