Those were my auctions, with the Quakegrip (Quakehold). At the time, I had no intention of ever selling them and figured I'd rather have trimmed felt than a shattered lighthouse. That stuff is great and has saved my collectibles several times already. I live in the San Francisco area now and the Quakehold proved invaluable once again, with the latest good-sized earthquake this past weekend. It was a trade-off that has paid off for me, though I realize and understand how it may be unacceptable to some collectors. Just some insight from someone in quake-country :-)
