Just received my Pacific Lighthouses Stamp Series and, as expected, I am delighted with everything about them, including the Certificate of Authenticity!! A bit of history on all five lighthouses are included on the one C of A. I've been meaning to comment on the new feature on the C of As--the edition number is included on the certificate which I find very helpful in keeping the order in the books I keep for the C of As.
Stan is cutting a piece of plexiglass to fit the front of the box they're housed in and that box will fit nicely atop the wall cabinet I have for my British Isle Collection.
The pieces are well-made and much attention has been paid to detail--a given with Harbour Lights in my experience, but much appreciated in these times when quality control seems to have taken a backseat to much of whatever is produced.
Three of the five pieces--George's Reef, Diamond Head, & Gray's Harbor have copyright dates incised at the base of 2001; the other two (Umpqua and Five Finger) have 2007. All five pieces have a 2007 copyright date on the bottom. Were the three with 2001 released as LLOMs and just included with this 5-piece set? Or is this set an anomaly?
Also, Gray's Harbor has the door to the lantern room one panel left of the tower door's placement. Going to do some detective work after I finish this, but hope somebody out there already knows and will post a response.

There's been a lot of activity with LLOM lately. It must be exciting for those who collect those little treasures. This is the kind of activity collectors feed on. Kudos to Harbour Lights for feeding the frenzy! Bob

I agree that things are definitely picking up with the LLOMs. Especially for those of us, who may have to go with those in the future, it makes it very exciting. Sandy, thanks for the info! Stan's addition of a plexiglass cover sounds terrific. I just started dusting all my pieces - AGAIN! As soon as I finish, it's time to start all over again. I don't have the benefit of curios, unfortunately. It will be a lot cheaper to find an appropriate display for a collection of LLOMs.

My dealer phoned this past week that the Pacific LLOM set I had asked for was in. Well I went by on Friday evening and picked it up, but didn't look at the set until yesterday. Much to my surprise the box was numbered #9! I held my breath while opening the wooden box to see what the numbers were on the lights themselves. Much to my disappointment they were numbered 358, the usual LE number my dealer receives.
For a brief moment there I thought I had been one lucky collector. Come to think of it, I am a lucky collector, because the LLOMs are beautiful! I'm going to have my husband cut a piece of plexiglass to fit the front of the box too. Thanks for the great suggestion Sandy.

Stan didn't have the proper tools to cut plexiglass and the plexiglass itself was not clear and unscratched, so he took the unit to the local glass vendor and they're going to cut a piece of glass to fit, as well as small mirrors glued to the back of each segment. I'll post a picture when I get it back. It'll cost $20, but I think the case will look much better with the mirrored back and clear glass front. Hopefully those of you looking to use plexiglass won't run into the same issues we did.

Sandy,
Your idea of making a glass front and mirrors on the back of your Stamp Set sounds intriguing. Please don't forget to post a picture when you receive the finished product.
Melody,
I went through the same heart-stopping experience as you did relative to the #9 on the Stamp Set box. But no, it just wasn't to be. However, when I looked at the individual pieces, LOW AND BEHOLD, I saw #11. I sure can't complain about that.

Bob, So your box was numbered #9 too?? Are all the boxes numbered #9? Wow I wouldn't feel too bad that the #9 turned into a #11 either, Fanastic

Melody,
Yes, #9 seems to very popular with someone. At least two of us were given that box number. Anyone else?

Picked up the mirrored and glassed Pacific Lighthouses wood box this morning--came out really well I think and glad I decided to do this: Sun's not in right place to get a good outdoor shot. That's dearly beloved's head and shoulders as he lay on the floor to shoot the picture--he's a keeper. Sandy

Sandy, The Pacific Set looks great. You had a great idea. What did you do to mount the stamps? What did you use to put in the lighthouse names? I want to try the same thing. No offense meant, but you can keep the husband. bobo

What did you do to mount the stamps? What did you use to put in the lighthouse names? Bob, The stamps are in what was described as a baseball card protector. Got a supply of them a number of years ago to house the various stamps issued that relate to lighthouses. Used Word Perfect software and their "text box" command for the lighthouse names and printed them on tan paper. Set them up to fit the label holders I use for all the tent cards (they have a very sticky back and hang from the glass shelves in my curios), but cut the holders in half. LLOM labels are too small (I print them in 10 point) to put them in 1" x 2.5" holders where they look like that old peanut/elephant analogy. When I did them the same size as those that HL supplies with their LEs, they just didn't look right in front of the LLOMs so I reduced the point size and halved the holder. Scale seems to be right. Hardest part is cutting a straight line around the text boxes, but I've also invested in a super sharp rotary trimmer that works much better than a regular guillotine paper cutter--cuts through plastic sheet protectors I have to trim to fit my photo albums like they're butter. But I digress. . . . Sandy P.S. Stan's not your type? That's good to know.

My LLOM outer box said 9 also. The pieces were number 505.
I picked the Taney set and the LLOM set up last week and still have not looked at the Taney set. Hopefully this weekend.
