Here's a sneak peak at the 2005 St. Augustine lighthouse modeled during restoration: Yes, there's a crew on this piece. You can make out the guy hanging over the tower railing, painting the stripe and there's another on the roof line of the keeper's house. Not sure what the full complement is.

Looks like this will be a fine looking HL. I really like the idea of a crew included. Seems logical, since it is during reconstruction. Well Done HL! Bert

I'll be getting it since it is a different look. I just hope this is the last of the St. Augustine pieces.

I will definitely buy this one. This is the closest lighthouse to me. Even though I don’t like repeats of the same light. I see the idea behind it and think it will be a great marketing piece. This March at the lighthouse festible we will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the renovation work of St Augustine. So why not make a commenative lighthouse and who should do it but no other than Harbour Lights.
All that makes sense. But you still have a lot of collectors that disagree and feel that there should only be one L.E. The collecting damage was all ready done by last years event piece and this event L.E. will have no damage on the originals secondary market. It may even enhance it.

This piece is GREAT! Yeah, it's ANOTHER St. Augustine. But this one is so much better than the others. Not only in the way that it is depicted (a unique Point of View), but also in that it is so much more detailed and realistic than any other SA piece. Funny...all of us sitting here commending this piece just a few months ago were fuming about its introduction. Obviously, HL has done such a high caliber of work on this piece compared to the others to make us do a 180-degree turn on our opinions of it. That said...I want this to be the last St. Augustine rerelease, unless there is one in a different collection with a completely different target (i.e. LLOM, small scale giftware as opposed to large scale limited editions). This is the perfect way to end the St. Auggie series. HL, you got yourselves back ahead with this release, but I would recommend quitting while you are. The perfect end to the Augustines!

I like this piece VERY much, and will definitely buy it, because it addresses lighthouse preservation.

I see the idea behind it and think it will be a great marketing piece. That is definitely the way of thinking Harbour Lights is looking for. They want to please some of the people (the whole edition size whatever that might be) some of the time, and don't need to please all of the people all of the time. The days of a person keeping a complete collection of everything HL offers are over. Only a handful of collectors continue that quest. Perhaps Harbour Lights should consider a new series called "Love my Light". They could take the absolute most popular lights and release a different version of a limited edition every year. You could bet that anyone who really loved a particular light would buy every version that was introduce. Then the autoships would get one followed by tourists who would scoop one up just because they were there once. Obviously, the only grumbles would be from the autoships because they are usually more interested in different lighthouses to add to their collections. LML / Love My Light...could this come to pass some day? Bob

Ho-hum...does absolutely nothing for me...we've seen this before...remember St. Helena, MI? I will NOT be buying this one...I'm thrilled for the tourists HL is trying so hard to please these days...

Just got back from the USLHS tour of Florida'a Atlantic lights and this piece (called "Saving St. Augustine") was in the gift shop at the real thing...they preferred I not take pics of it w/my Canon digital so all I can do is tell you that it is even more disappointing in "person"...the house and footprint are HUGE, the tower way too small & skinny, almost like an afterthought...may be an AP they had, but I'm past the point of no concern...

Well I think that the pic that John posted looks really neat. It's different and appealing. And as Judy mentioned, it emphasizes preservation.
I'll definitely purchase this one.

It's a neat idea, especially having the workman in the piece. Unfortunately I have enough St. Augustine pieces and not enough room so we'll be passing on this one. Judy
