It was posted in an earlier thread that there might be a few "prototypes" of different hues of glass on the Fresnel? I was able to get an extra and put the two of them side by side, and one is green in hue (left) and the other one is definitely clear. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

You have two and mine hasn't even arrived yet. I was browsing through eBay last night and was amazed at the number of Fresnel Lenses up for auction. Some of them were going for double the retail price.

You may in fact have a variation that could prove to be valuable in the future.

Jen... thanks for raising the question and posting a photo. Mine are all a green hue. One has an addition size of 92. What are your edition sizes? Maybe through that information, we can tell where the change may have taken place.

Tim - Keeping the flame lit...

The one that I saw at my collectible dealer, which had the greenish tint to it, had an edition number of 618.

Mine is 675 and definately has the green hue to it. I have seen 676 and it also is greenish. Lets hear from some more people and see if we can find out when it changed.

I checked mine out (#327) and its "clear". Are they all made in China or could some of them be made in Malaysia?

Yes. Hang on to both.

Mine is Greenish tint number 66 made in China.

This will probably drive the price up even more on the secondary market. I can see a lot of collectors that was happy with one will want both types now. Myself included.

Jen; in your picture the clear Fresnel looks a lot fatter than the greenish tint one. Is there a size difference or does it just looks that way in the picture?

I also have two. One for myself and one to put on display in our lighthouse next year. They are indeed different. One is clear and the other has a definite geen hue.

Mine are #1583 and #1593, which strikes me as funny on 1593, because one of the Ebay auctions I saw had the same number, 1593. There shouldn't be any duplicates, should there?

I took my cloth measuring tape and checked both the height and circumference of both, and they are exactly the same. When I squat down to look at them, the clear *does* look fatter, only thing I can figure is the color of the lens must distort it's proportions a bit.

Hi Bob!

Believe it or not, this one was my digital. Fuji MX-1200 - had really great shots with it, especially for my Ebay sales. I also have a card reader I hook up to my computer so all I have to do is pull the memory card out of the camera, drop it into the reader, and I can copy 50 photos with one click onto my hard drive. Worth every penny of $300 I spent on it last year.

JSelwa... there was an edition number 1592 Fresnel for auction on eBay, but not 1593. It sold for $177.50. In any case, no conclusions as to where the change in color of the lenses may have taken place. Considering the actual lens itself is not numbered, and only the base, who knows?! A little sleuthing is in order here!

I have number 1128- but I really can't tell what color it is. I wish I had the two colors to compare to. Just to stand and look at the piece it looks pretty clear, but if you pick it up and angle it, it definaltely turns green in color??

my lens has a green tint to it. The tint is much more noticable when the light is on in the curio cabinet.

Believe it or not...there are some of us out here STILL waiting for the lens. Thank goodness I've been told not all were shipped out yet or I'd be real worried. I hope I don't have to buy one off ebay for what they are going for or I won't have enough money left to make the reunion. And that would be a crime

Just for your infomation, I have an 888 that is lighter than my 713. Of course you need two. Howelse can you have twin lights.
