I just bought a new book titled "Lost Lighthouses Stories and Images of America's Vanished Lighthouses" by Tim Harrison and Ray Jones.

This is a great book with great stories and pictures of lighthouses that are no longer with us. At times is is very sad to see what has been lost.

Has anyone else had the chance to look at this book?

Haven't had a chance to see it yet, but read about it in the Lighthouse Depot catalogue.
Sounded like a must have.

I just put it on my Christmas list for my wife and family to use in selecting gifts for me. Glad to hear it's good.

I have it too Suzanne. Bought it at the Cape May-Lewes Ferry Gift Shop (on the Cape May side) this past May on my way to Hatteras. Thoroughly enjoyable reading.

Suzanne,
We all missed you at the Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival. Ray Jones & Tim Harrison were there signing copies. Next year on the way home from Baltimore you'll have to make a stop in Alpena and get your copy signed. Ray & Tim usually don't miss this festival.

Suzanne,

Like Jim Johnson, we picked up the book at the Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival and had Tim Harrison and Ray Jones sign it. It is a great book. We highly recommend it.

I look forward to their new book "Endangered Lighthouses"! At least something might be done to save these lighthouses!

I missed being at the Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival also.

I have a copy of this on reserve at my library- it is coming on loan from another branch. I am looking forward to reading it. Funny thing, my kids go to the library every 2 weeks, but I never really thought about finding LH books there!

Maybe it is because books keep food on my table, but the library is a great place to check out books on lighthouses. I am a Media Specialist in a middle school and there are lots of books in our site that have info on lighthouses. We are new this year and I am really enjoying the state books that have arrived. Many covers have lighthouses on the front and all the lighthouses are highlighted in the states they are located in. I cannot afford all the books I would like to buy but I can have them in my home if I check them out. Also there are many magazines, that have been talked about here on the forum-plus others, that you can go to the library and read.

I like to order as many books for our media center as I can so that students will be able to get info and know how important the lights are historically. It is amazing how many lighthouses there are in the printed word that is being written today.

I ordered this book from Lighthouse Depot a month or so ago and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

A very good book, indeed!! It is a wonderful addition to my collection, including "Forgotten Beacons" by Patrick Hornberger and Linda Turbyville.
It really makes you think about all those great "Lights" that have been lost forever.....
