As Rosemont is approaching soon, shouldn't we begin the guessing for Christmas 2K, Buffalo Bill Harnsberger seems to have a mole at Harbour Lights with a 73.16% accuracy rate of predicting the future lighthouses. Who dares taking on the rumor master general ?
Post your predictions (not wishes) here

I will begin the predicting now, by going out on a limb, (way out on a limb)(correction: way, way out on a limb) my guess is Whitefish Point for Christmas 2000 (and if it isn't HL should scrap the current piece and prove me right)

P.S. be carefull going out on the limb with me, it's a weak branch and I ain't skinny

Mark

Whether it's a weak branch or not, I'd love to see Whitefish Point as the Christmas Piece this year!

I bet we see Whitefish at Rosemont, but I'm not sure if it will be the Christmas piece.

Whitefish Point will be released this year, but not as the Christmas piece. Harbour Lights will stick to a more Currier and Ives setting, thus the skeleton tower wouldn't fit. Expect them to make another attempt at a different kind of tree (based on recently-discovered plans hidden in a mayonnaise jar by the late Bob Younger). There's a good chance it will be a New England piece.

This prediction is certified 75% accurate.

Since last years piece was East Quoddy, my guess will be WEST QUODDY. (Hope and Wish!) Will there be a prize involved??!! The only prize I would like is to see this one redone!!!

I nominate for your consideration…. Old Michigan City Lighthouse as this year's Harbour Lights Christmas Lighthouse.

Paul- I really like your idea of Old Michigan City Lighthouse. I really enjoyed its beauty when I visited it two summers ago and the museum inside is great. It has been ignored for too long. It would be perfect for a Christmas piece!

I would love to see them do another New England Light as a Christmas HL. I really don't think it will be a repeat of a light already done. I would also love to see West Quoddy done, but it isn't going to happen.

I try to think of some of the "undone" New England Lights that might be a great seller as a Christmas piece. Then the more I think about it, the more I think the Christmas 2000 piece may be from the Great Lakes. Time will tell!

YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!

I picked it. When I first saw a picture of this light, over one year ago, I knew this had to be a Christmas piece.

This LH has been lovingly retored inside and out. There are beautiful gardens surronding the LH. I went there last October nad this past March (the NJ Lighthouse Society had their quarterly meeting at the local firehouse). I know that I've read this somewhere on these forums, but it bears repeating- this LH and Point Fermin in LA are very similar in design, but unfortunately Point Fermin is not open to the public and it also is not as well preserved as Hereford Inlet is. You can even get into the lantern room at Hereford Inlet. They have the original Fresnel Lens on display in the original living room of the LH. Don't miss it if you get to the Wildwood/ Cape May area of NJ. In fact make a special trip to get there. The plans are not finalized as of yet, but the NJLHS in conjunction with the State of NJ are planning a Lighthouse Day in October 2000 where you will be able to enter 10 LH's (some of which are not always open) and get a special stamp and if you go to all 10 of them in the two days allotted you will get a certificate. Thers should be updated information soon on their site http://njlhs.burlco.org/ . Check it out - sounds like fun. I'm planning on being there with my Wacko pin on. hope to see many others. Dennis

Please don't get me wrong: I really like the Christmas HL's a lot. However, I hope HL does the Old Michigan City light St. Paul showed us above as a regular LE so that the beautiful architectural features won't be hidden by snow. And, I love the somewhat unusual colors.

Guess this is kinda' off topic, huh?

Let's hope that HL really dresses this one up with some nice festive holiday touches and doesn't make it just another Pt. Fermin w/snow...

This article from Lighthouse Digest has a great picture of the light. Maybe we'll have a Christmas tree with lights? http://www.lhdigest.com/archives/2000/January_2000/hereford.htm

I would like to see Maine's Marshall Point Light as a Christmas piece. This one is not as well known as some of the others, but is beautiful. Took some great pictures when I was there last It was raining and I could't believe how good they came out.
