Does anyone else feel the smaller font used on the 2008 models tent cards is hard to read?
I prefer the font on prior tent cards. Anyone been creative and created their own tent cards? It does seem possible.

I did notice the print was a little smaller, but I don't generally put the tent cards out so I didn't give it much thought. Unfortunatly, I'm so short on room my pieces are too cramped to put the cards out, otherwise I would.

I complained about that awhile ago as I do use the tent cards religiously. They are very difficult to read, even with bifocals and I really wish they'd revert to the bigger print. I tried duplicating the style and size of both labels and point on my computer, but haven't been able to match the layout and border. Additionally, the heavier stock paper used by HL stands up much better to insertion into and removal out of the adhesive-backed label holders I use to house the labels. My printer can't handle the heavier stock paper and the tan paper it does handle doesn't stand up to much handling.
I make a motion that we make ourselves heard on this topic--do I have a second?

I second the motion to revert back to the old font !!!
I also display the tent cards. When we have guests, the tent cards save me from having to name almost every lighthouse.

I don't use the tent cards so I have not noticed the change. I guess I better take a better look at what everbody is talking about.

I don't use the tent cards, but have noticed the smaller print. I thought it was just me needing new glasses. I hadn't compared the cards to older ones.

I was using the tent cards, but they were hard for me and some of my guests to read. So I cut 3"long triangluar pieces of oak, coated the with three coats of Spa Varnish and used a labelling machine to make a label to go on the front of the wood to display in from of all my lighthouses. For me they look good because they match the oak cabinets with lights that I made to display the lighthouses.

Really like your idea, but can't imagine how long making over 370 (and counting) pieces of 3" long triangular pieces of oak, coating with three coast of varnish, and generating a label would take me. Would love to see a picture or two of your curio cabinets.

I was thinking the same thing Sandy, I quit using the cards about 6 months after I started my collection. I found it was better to memorize every lighthouse and it's location for taking friends on a tour of the collection.. It also makes me keep using my mind!

It din't really take that long....about an hour to cut them all out on the tablesaw and power miter box. Probably about an hour and a half to run through the sanding machine and about an hour for each coat of spa varnish sprayed on. The labels are somewhat time consuming, but about a minute a piece. In one full day I made almost 300 and than did another 200 the next day. Sometime in the near future I will takje a picture of one of the display cases and post it, if I can figure out to put a picture in.

Cuckolds -Looking forward to seeing your display case and oak name cards. My display case is absolutely full! And every time I move, I seem to lose a tent card or two. I'd like to see how you have displayed your collection and name plates. I can use some hints or two about displaying my collection and name tents.
Plus I have two little grandchildren who are pulling up to the furniture now so I can't put any of my lighthouses out on a coffee table or end table as I used to. Everything has to go inside something to avoid little hands...

Cuckolds - I like your idea of the oak name cards. My curios are also oak. I am looking forward to seeing pictures.
docsweetie - I understand completely about the little hands. My granddaughter likes my collection and likes to play peek-a-poo around one of my curios with her Papa.

Sankaty, Point Vicente, & Perkins Island have the small font as well.

I'm guessing the tent card and Certificate of Authenticity are printed well in advance of the "sail" (no pun intended) date. If the size is going to be changed, I doubt it'll happen before mid-2009 or not until 2010.
