Has anybody seen any movies with lighthouses in them recently?
I have just finished watching one on TV. It was "Murder in My House". I don't think it was one that was on our last topic on the subject because it was made in 2006. I didn't recognize the lighthouse.

We watched "The Guardian" last night. They show one at the end while the credits were rolling.

We watched a movie tonight- "Failure to Launch" - that was a nice distraction but not very believeable at all. It starred Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Mcconaghey, Kathy Bates and Terry Bradshaw (yes the football star Terry Bradshaw).

The very last scene involved a Lighthouse- Bloody Point Bar in Maryland. It was on screen for about 2 seconds.

The movie never really stated where it took place and was filmed in various locations- Cape Henelopen in DE, MD in the Oxford and Annapolis area, unidentified area of Alabama and also in New Orleans.

We watched another movie with a lighthouse in it last night- "Your's , Mine & Ours" with Dennis Quaid and Rene Russo in the Henry Fonda and Lucille Ball roles.

They lived in a "lighthouse" and it even figured into the climax of the movie. It was obviously a faux lighthouse although there was one that showed up in one of the sailing scences for a second- couldn't place it. The movie was filmed in the LA, Santa Clarita, CA and New London, CT area.

Whenever the exterior of the house was shown it was obvious that it was some sort of computer generated graphic or other amalgamation of some sort.

This is another of those movies that is totally unbelievable but still fun to watch.

I watched the original "Cheaper By The Dozen " (1950) recently and it showed a lighthouse- actually 2 lighthouses- that were part of a cottage that the Gilbreath family stayed at on Nantucket Island in the 20's.

The depiction in the movie looked like photos I saw in January of the Three sisters lighthouses in Eastham, MA when they were part of a cottage. It was located just down the road from where the lighthouses are presently situated.

I did find a photo of what the Gilbreths' called "The Shoe" on Nantucket. Here's a link to the photo- scroll down it's the 3rd photo.

I've sent an e-mail to Jeremy D'Etremont to see if he has any more info on it.

I didn't get a response from Jeremy but i did get one from Al over on lighthousing.net.

The lighthouses in question are the old Nantucket Range lights. Here's a link to some photos taken by the "Lighthouse People"- the Shanklins.

Just watched a movie with a distant view of a lighthouse in it-

Simon Birch (1998) with Ashley Judd, Oliver platt which is very loosely based on the John Irving book "A Prayer For Owen Meaney".

It was filmed in several places in Canada- Elors, Meshaw Fals and toronto , Ontario and Lunenberg, Nova Scotia (I beleive this was the church and parts of the town which was supposed to be in Maine- as much of Irving's books are based).

I could not determine which light it was, though.
