I have been waiting to say anything until all the legalities were worked out. I had to send a notarized form to the judging company for verification. Just yesterday in the mail, I received from Photopoint my letter saying that I had indeed won and that my prize will be here in 30 days.

What did I win you ask?

It was a Nikon Coolpix 800 Digital Camera!

I was pretty hyped when I found out. Can't wait for it to get here so I can start playing around. I can hear Marla now on our lighthouse visits: Now you are carrying two cameras? Why do you need two?

Anyway, All I did to win was type in a little info about myself at Photopoint, and a few weeks later, I got an e-mail saying I was a potential winner pending verification.

I would like to say thanks to Photopoint for not only holding a cool contest, but also for providing a free outlet for posting our photos! You guys are great!

It never hurts entering these sweeps. I used to be a big time sweepstakes nut, belonging to 2 clubs, and entering 50-80 sweeps a month. Over the 3 year period that I was heavily involved, we won over $8000 worth of stuff, including a top of the line first-class vacation to Aspen, over 50 CD's, gas grill, tent, telescope, watch, gift certificates, etc, etc. I wish I still had the time to be involved again. It definately was paying off.

Hope you like the camera, you will get some use out of that prize!

No photos involved with winning my prize, John. It was simply for being a member of the Photopoint community. I did not enter the Million Dollar Photo Contest.

I will however put up a photo of my smile after the camera arrives.
