I have chosen the Fog Signal Building as the place I wanted to list my 2000 post.

It seems like yesterday I joined the group led by Saint John. I've been involved in a lot of great discussions at the CF. All my memories of this forum are good ones.

The credit goes to the group that hangs around here. I've never regretted joining the Harbour Lights Family of Friends. This is the greatest show on earth!

Both of us having been on-board here from the get go, and having recently posted my own two-thousandth message, I couldn't help noticing this thread and the fact that in the approximately 541 days since his own two-thousandth message, the Bobster has posted 1,700 additional messages. That is roughly 3.1423902 messages per day and the rate seems to be increasing. In fact several more may have been posted since this message.

I'm not sure what it means. Bob, do you know? :-)

As I was going through the CF for the "umpteenth" time today, I spotted this topic with my name listed as the originator. I thought to myself, "What's this bearing my name?"

The average person would probably believe I should get a life and do something more constructive with my time. Believe me, I do plenty of constructive things with my time, but I must admit I enjoy communicating with the folks who frequent the CF.

I still remember joining the old "AOL HL Chats" and telling Sean Thompson I already had six HL's in my collection. You cannot see human emotion through the written word, but you can feel it and imagine what the invisible person behind the screen is doing. At that moment, Sean replied with something like, "It's a start". Now I picture him as smiling and saying, "You got a long way to go, kid."

Well I have longevity! I'm still here and I own all the LEs except for the very elusive Coquille River. It's not that you can't find it for sale. I just can't justify spending that kind of money for one HL.

As Mary Hopkins sang: "Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end..." Well they haven't ended and I'm still here with the greatest folks on Earth.

Thanks for bringing up this classic from the past, Tim. Obviously, like me, you have nothing better to do with your free time! (LOL)

With something as out of the ordinary as embedded music in a post, there is only one person I can think of who would create such a post. That person would be the patron saint of the FSB. If you will look at his post from the 25th (have to click on the "edit post" icon), you will see how he does it.

At the bottom of Tim's post, is a command that starts with "< embed src="http". You can only see it if you go to edit the message. I would believe that this is what in fact embeds the music into the post, and therefore into the thread.

Pay no attention to the code behind the curtain... :-)

Yep, Dave's got it. A little HTML magic to pull a music file from the Web. Most browsers are configured to recognize files by the extension on their name and launch an application associated with that extension - in this case whatever you've got that is your music player. The file is in the .mp3 format.

After reading the last couple of posts I'm starting to get worried that I'm going deaf! I don't hear anything either - what's up with that?

For those who can't hear. Do you have speakers plugged in? Headphones? Is the volume turned up?

Yup, sound is on and everything. I checked out a few sites that I knew had sound and they came through crystal clear. I wonder what's wrong with this?
