Did any of you watch NBC's Dateline on Sunday night (07/08/07)? The title of the program was "The Spy Who Loved Me". It was a story about a con-man who claimed to be a secret agent for the British Government, and convinced quite a few women that he was definitely a real life James Bond.

One woman from the US, who has her Doctorate in Psychology, was suckered in by this car saleman and was bilked out of a large sum of money. She was actually quite lucky that she came out of the experience alive.

According to the self-proclaimed spy, they were going to put her through "spy school" and he and she would live in a lighthouse and keep track of Russian Submarine activity passing nearby. Several times during the program, footage was shown of the lighthouse they were supposed to live in to perform their spy duties. It was off the coast of England, perhaps in Wales or Ireland. If you saw the program, can you identify the name of the lighthouse?

Shame they did not show it here ... so I can't help.

But maybe you can find the lighthouse on the Trinity House Gallery

If the light shown is in England or Wales, it should be there.

If it is in Scotland, it'll be on the website of the Northern Lighthouse Board

And an Irish lighthouse would be on the website of the Commissioners of Irish Lights

I'd look for you, but I did not see the lighthouse mentioned. So I hope this helps!

P.S. smile Found a clip of the film here:
MSNBC Video

Takes a little patience, wait for the adverts to finish and then comes a preview. In there it actually shows the lighthouse and it apears to be Scottish!

I just watched the video trailer for the "Spy Who Loved Me" segment on the MSNBC web site, just before I saw your link, Margret. They show the light a couple of times and mention the "Scottish Highlands". I utilized your links above to the various lighthouses from that area and the light may have been Stroma Light.

Take a look at the video trailer and see if you think I'm correct.
