Well, Bob, we all got together and set up a noise generator so that you would be able to find your way back to the mainland. You were gone so long we were beginning to wonder if you had decided to take up residence in the islands. (or maybe had become the "guest of honor" at a sacrifical ceremony at one of the volcanos.)
Susan will tell you my snoring can be heard for miles, but I don't think it is the basis of "the hum".
Actually I live in the general area of the city where "the hum" is supposed to be an issue. There are people who say it has made them terribly sick, unable to sleep and all sorts of other ailments. One lady claims to have walked away from her house because she could not take the noise any longer. For every person who has complained about the low level noise, there are more who basically say they are nuts. Who knows, I don't think I hear "the hum" but that doesn't mean there isn't one.
