I'm trying to fulfill a promise I made at the San Diego Regional about the Lighthouse Journal. I said I'd have stickers for 200 of America's Leading Lighthouses ready by the end of August.

I'm working diligently at this, but I'm thinking tonight "Which ARE the top 200 lighthouses in the USA?" Are these the best known? The most visited?

Sure there's the top tier of a couple of dozen. And just because it's not easy to VISIT a particular lighthouse, does that mean it's not one of the top ones? Should the definition be 'most important' or 'engineering feats of the past' or something else?

So I'm turning to y'all.

How many different Lighthouses has Harbour Lights sculpted as a limited edition or special edition? Are there any 'important' lighthouses which have not yet been made by Harbour Lights? Which ones?

I've taken a list of America's lighthouses from the NPS site and made it easier to navigate. This list is arranged alphabetically. I've also added a symbol to indicate which ones have been sculpted by Harbour Lights (not counting Little Lights).

Anyone who wants to double check my work by verifying I've got symbols next to all the lighthouses, etc, your time will be very much appreciated. You can click here to bring up a product list to print out.

So we're here in the FSB because this is a Forum for debate and the term 'Leading Lighthouses' requires opinions. Have at it; but, please, no wagering, no fighting and no spitting on the sidewalks.

P.S. to Mombo - is "Sister's Island" missing from the NPS list? Is there another name it goes by?

It's there John, listed as Three Sisters Island Light.

When looking for lighthouses to include that have not been made by HL I'd consider those that folks have reported visiting or viewing. Pt. Vicente comes to mind after reading about Dennis and Esther's trip. In Upstate NY Sodus Point is a popular light to visit as is Tibbets Point. Rock Island Lighthouse on the St. Lawrence River is a popular lighthouse too. I'll let other folks speak for those in their areas.

I definetly think that Pt. Bonita in California should be one of the top lighthouses.

I agree with Larry about Pt. Bonita.

While on the subject. A light I think deserves to be mentioned is Pt. Sur, CA. It may not be well known, but if you ever visit it will leave a lasting impression.

Michigan Lights already done by HL:
Big Sable
Big Red
Grand Haven

Need to be done:
Little Sable
Au Sable
Copper Harbor
Point aux Barque

Can't believe with everyone talking about CA lights that Point Reyes has yet to be listed.

There are others, but want to leave some for others.
