First of all let me state that I have no axe to grind, nor is this a personal attack towards anyone, but I thought that this subject might add a little spark of (friendly)controversy in the FSB.
With that said let us move on to the question at hand. Most of you have probably heard by now that there is music on some of the threads. Though the idea is novel and interesting, do you like it or not and why ?
I for one, though I like music very much find it annoying on web pages, especially when it is the same short tune over and over. Also usually when I am on my computer, I have music playing in the backround which makes it even more annoying. Not to mention when I was on the Forums at work the other day, it was rather loud. Perhaps an on-off button would be a solution so that one has a choice to listen or not.
Any other opinions on this matter ?

Hi Mike, ...As stated in a previous reply, I usually don't turn the sound on in my computer. I'm on AOL and have an extensive Buddy's List so every time one comes in or out there is a sound byte (creaky door opening or a door slamming shut.)

Although I prefer it quiet when I'm on the computer, I have no objection of sound bytes being available for those who enjoy them.

Right to Free Speech, you can turn your volume down if you don't like it.

I happen to like it. Seems to add a little bit of spice to the forum. When I don't want to hear it, I go to my MUTE button and turn it off. Isn't it great to live in America!

I'm kind of contrary on this. I like the idea of music on the forums.

I also very seldom hear it unless it's mentioned because I always keep my system muted unless I'm playing a cd on the computer.

I find most of the sounds that emanate from the computer annoying so I avoid them.

As Sean says- if it annoys you turn the sound down.

Just another comment, sound on the forums is nothing new. I seem to remember a fog horn playing in these forums just a few years back. I think John may have posted it or perhaps "The Fogster" himself.

I generally don't like superflous music in the background of web pages and forums. I'm glad it's allowed, but most of the time I mute the system when that kind of stuff comes on. Only trouble is I have missed IMs, but hey, could be worse.

I really don't mind themusic at home, I can turn down the sound. At work, we don't have any control over any functions. They think we are idiots and will bring down the system or break something :rolleyes: . So when music comes on I have to get out quick . I do spend my breaks here quite often so I personally would prefer no music because I would have to get out quick as I can't control the sound .
