Asked what happened to this section on the HL web page site and Becky responded that it was decided to remove it because very few collectors make use of it. Find that strange as a number of new listings were usually on the site whenever I looked (location of seahorses is part of the inventory I maintain). Thoughts anyone?

Is it removed-removed? Or just not linked? Because the index of Lighthouse Links is still there, just not linked.

It would be a shame to lose the page...perhaps, if HL no longer wants to host it, we could move it to the CF?

"Hello Sandy,

We have been making some changes/adjustments to our website and are continuing to do so. The decision to remove the Seahorses from the website was made in part because Mr. Younger would prefer that the seahorses remain somewhat of a mystery. You may know that he denies their existence on the lighthouses. In addition, the link was seldom visited by the collectors.

Obviously, you've writtent his email because it is a disappointment to you that it has been removed. I am really sorry for that. Please let me know if you have other questions or if I can be of assistance to you.

Keep the Flame!

Becky"

At least you received a very nice reply to your inquiry, Sandy. I wonder if every new release still has a seahorse hidden somewhere on the piece?

As Bill says, "What Seahorses?." That's been his official stance since I first met him.

I've gotta agree 100% with Sandy. I too miss the Seahorses. It's true, that it probably didn't have a lot of hits. I myself only went in twice a year. But it was fun. Some of the critters I was able to locate on my own, but there were many that I was unable to find. It's a crying shame that the link has now disappeared.

Some of the things you miss can be found by adding "/archive/" in the right place for a file

www.HarbourLights.com/archive/seahorses/

or

www.HarbourLights.com/archive/glossary.htm

While we're on the subject of things being taken off the Harbour Lights website, what about the product history. I thought it was supposed to be updated with the last Lgeacy, but I didn't get anything with my Lagacy, (which actually I never got and has to call to get a copy of) and would sure like to see an updated version.

Any clues?

Mike

Mike,

I'll add one more aspect missing from the HL Website. Remember the Chat Room? Using JC's instructions, I found the Chat Room and loaded it to My Favorites. So it still works.

By the way, why no chats lately? Total lack of interest? Or could it have just fallen into eternal oblivion like so many of our Lost Lighthouses?

Bob-

The chats have now moved right here to our own Collector Forums. HL "gave" us the chat room (not sure of the full story). I can't remember the link, though.

Bob,

I searched for the better part of the evening yesterday for a seahorse on Avery Point to no avail. Maybe the seahorse is no longer on HL's sculptures.

I've wondered if seahorses are still found on the pieces. Actually I haven't looked too hard or found one for years!

The last hard copy I have was printed on 12/12/2004 and listed locations on HL 310, Mahota Pagoda, China; HL 719 Bodie Island, NC; HL 313, New Presque isle, MI; HL 297, Sand Island; HL 251, Fairport Harbor; HL 635, Point Allerton; HL 306, Race Point, MA; HL 668, Three Sisters, MA; HL 248, Rockland Breakwater; HL 304, Ludington Pier, MI; HL 671, St. Augustine, FL; HL 238, Cape Disappointment, WA; HL 261, New Dungeness, WA; and HL 446, Diamond Head. Strikes me that not only are the seahorses still included, collectors are still interested and posting their locations. The first one shown here was posted 11/03/2004; the last one, 4/04/2004.

Okay...since HL doesn't seem to be really updating the list anymore, why don't we see if WE can find them on each of the new '05 releases as we get them. Maybe we can figure out some kind of prize, too?

Paul,

HL 310, Mahota Pagoda, China was posted on 11/03/2004 and HL 446, Diamond Head was posted 4/04/2004. The most recent addition to the site was the first one listed in my reply. Clear? smile smile
