Now I don't want anyone to be "too" jealous but I simply have to tell all forumites that I received a phone call from Kim this morning. Now this alone is quite exciting. She did ask me if I would be coming to Long Beach thinking that as I lived in Phoenix it would be a short trip. Naturally when she saw that it was Phoenix, New York she agreed that it would be quite a long trip. (Are you bored yet? Hang on, it gets better.) So why would Kim be calling me anyway???? Just to chat? Of course not! She was merely calling to tell me that I was one of the contest winners. Did I win a trip, a stay in a B&B LH or an artist's proof? No way. I "only" won the opportunity to choose a future HL! Can you stand it? Was I excited? You bet I was! She asked me to be thinking about 2, in case one wouldn't be feasible to do. Naturally I expect that you will help me with my decision. I only ask that you make no more than 2 suggestions each and that Statue of Liberty is not one of them!!!! So post your suggestions rather quickly please as Kim said she would be getting back to me sometime after Long Beach.
Thanks.

Sue

Well, Sue - I'm pretty excited for you!!!!
Now you have the responsibility of proving you are truly a Wacko. Start your research, and I suggest that you pick your own lighthouse since I'm sure it will be given a new nickname amongst the "forumites" -aka MOMBO
Congratulations Again,
Bob

Mombo!

I'm absolutely GREEN with envy!!!

Of all the prizes, I think that's the one that I coveted the most. My excitement for you is redlining the fun meter!

Since you asked, I'd sure like to see the Fort Jefferson, FL light done, but it's your call. I appreciate your asking for our input, but go with your own heart. We'll stand behind whatever decision you make, I'm certain. You have more at stake here than anyone -- a legacy -- and who knows? Maybe an AP of "your" light! (Kim? Whattaya think?)

Heartiest congratulations, Sue!

Mombo - How WONDERFUL! CONGRATULATIONS! Yes, I'm shouting on purpose. I'm as excited as can be for you. As was suggested in an earlier post, follow your own heart in choosing a lighthouse for HL to sculpt.

You won the BIG PRIZE as far as I'm concerned. Now whichever lighthouse you choose, they'll have to put a little "Mombo Was Here" carved somewhere on the sculpture!

I wish I had a crystal ball to help you. It would be nice if your did NOT pick one of the ones that are going to be coming out in 1999 - or maybe even early 2000 ones.

I have a feeling you'll also be sworn to secrecy as to which one you chose.

Great news! Congratualations.

BTW, Mark I agree with you totally!!!!!!

Sue, you sure got the best prize in the pack. I think your name should be engraved on EVERY piece!! Thanks for asking us to help with the choice. Are you sworn to secrecy? My suggestion would have to be Rockland Breakwater, Rockland ME.

Wow Sue, the ultimate prize for a wacko! That's GREAT. My two choices would be Fort Gratiot Lighthouse in Port Huron MI, the old hometown of St. John of the internet, who gives so much effort so we have a place to be wacko in, or Oswego Light since we heard Bill took lots of pictures of it when he was in NY last year for an event. But if you really want to make everyone NUTS ask Kim to bring Coquille GLOW out of mothballs.

Now that I think about it this is a very hard prize to win. I mean, if you win a trip, you win a trip, easy. This prize requires responsibility. There are just so many to choose from. Didn't really get any details from Kim yet but am sure "not telling" will probably be part of the deal! Am compiling a list of questions to ask her when both feet are back on the ground. Maybe I can have an "Event" and sign them!

Congratulations on such a great prize! Somewhere down the road there will be several more thousand people wanting to thank you for your choice. Just think, maybe somewhere there is a "Point Mombo" that has a lighthouse???

BTW, did Mark ever come up with a suggestion?

Congratulations!!

I have to agree that your prize is best by far. The other prizes could be purchased at a monetary price. Your prize is one that money can't buy. It's especially terrific it happened to a fellow formee (formite?).

Do us proud Sue ! (I know you will.)

I am very exicited for you Mombo. It will not doubt be the 2nd highlight of your HL Life, your 1st, when your choice light house comes out and is selling all over the world.

Knowing that it will retire before production ends and shipping begins.

Again WAY TO GO

Congrats Mombo

Not only did you get a swell prize, you have to be well on the way to Supreme Wackohood. There are only so many Saints, but there is always an opening for a Supreme Wacko.

You notice I gave you on out if your choice is not popular (FAT CHANCE). Schzophrenia. If that doesn't grab you, you can always do like most wives and blame it on influence from the insignificant other.

Go for twin lights. And we can name them the Jumbo Mombo Combo.

Thanks so much to everyone. Have been "lighthousing" on the web most of the day. Insignificant other said,"Maybe they'll send you on a trip to the one you choose. Is there another one in Australia?" LOL

WOW SUE.....what an honor!! I just wanted to echo everyone else's sentiment in congradulating you on such a coveted prize!! You must be reeling with excitment, there are so many beautiful lights still not sculpted yet that I'm sure your decision will be a difficult one. Harbour Lights is the most wonderful collectible out there....and this is just another reason why!! Good Luck with your selection...can't wait until its the real thing.

Cool Mombo, Congratulations for such an honor. And I think it is wonderful that you would ask for input from the family especially when it's your spotlight. I agree with so many others to "follow your heart". I am just glad it's not me because with the excitement factor, I'd be flagging cars down on the highway to tell them. Don't worry, you'll choose a fine piece. Let us know and hope to hear from you at the chat. Congrats!!

Hey Sue,

What can I say after I say GREAT !
Of course I would suggest any FL light such as the spider lights in Key West. But then, I am sure that you have several favorites that have not been sculpted in mind. Whatever you decide on I agree with the Webmaster...It should say something about Mombo being there.

Mombo,

The one question that keeps nagging me is "how many entries did you have in the contest". Don't tell us one, 'cuz you'll cause a lot of tears to flow over how many entries people had without the fantastic results yours got!

Congratulations. I have to say you won the pick of the prizes. Fort Jefferson, FLA is a gorgeous lighthouse. I would have to agree with Art on that one, it would make a beutiful piece. That would be my only reccomendation. Can someone else have my other one?

Congratulations Mombo!!!!
If I collected Harbour Lights (instead of just paying for them) this would have been the prize I wanted. Since I don't know much about lighthouses (other then what my son tells me) I really can't offer any suggestions. I do agree though that your name should be on every piece, just like the people that won the "Name the new Crayola crayon color contest". Just to let you know, Jake already has it on his "want" list and a place picked out to display it. Once again congratulations!!!!!

Bringing this forward in case any new folks aren't aware. Obviously, suggestions are no longer being taken! To the best of my knowledge this light should be announced some time in May. I believe HL is having this contest again and will offer the chance to pick a light as one of the prizes. So save your receipts for purchases made the first 3 months of this year as each one gets an entry. A special registration form was required last year.

Mombo's been sworn to secrecy. She's done a great job of keeping her choice under wraps. Hopefully we'll learn about it soon when the next batch of 2000's from Harbour Lights are revealed.

A new contest is already underway - same deal as last year -- register your new Harbour Lights purchased between January 1 and March 31 including a copy of the receipt from an authorized retail dealer and you'll be entered to win one of several great prizes -- including the chance to pick a future HL release.

Well after Rosemont broke up, Paul, Tim and I went up to Whitefish Bay to shoot some pictures. As some of you all ready know Tim is a test pilot for the heavy jumbos, and currently has a "A3XX" Airbus to use as he see's fit, so Tim said he would get us up to Whitefish, so after taking off from O'hare we flew 13 minutes to Milwaukee's MGD International Airport, because that was closest airport to Whitefish with a runway long enought to land the A3XX, So we rented a 86 Ford Escort (Tim said it would get good milage) so after another 6 hours we were there. Tim was testing his PSD Personal stealthing device and is in both pictures, Congrats Tim I think you finaly got the tuning right !

And here is one more, had one picture left on the roll before we could drop off the film
