a few years ago, there was quite a discussion on determining the future value of Harbor Lights limited edition pieces. I was not a member of this forum at the time, but I have searched around this thread and The Fog Horn and pieced together a lot of the discussion. I am very interested. However, the spreadsheet with the data is no longer available when one clicks on the link. This discussion was headed by J Timothy A.

I'm looking for the formula counterparts to the data presented at that time and a downloadable copy of the spreadsheet if possible. I'm intrigued by what that information applied today would reveal.

To refresh memories, there were factoids 10-11 and a lot of comments on them. I guess that the discussion had begun on AOL and was then updated here.

I've been e-mailed the spreadsheet. I'm still looking for the factoids that were not published on Collector Forums

Search the headings for all forums under factoid and you will come up with a bunch of them

I did a search of Factoids in the Forum and came up with all 11.
I don't remember any being in the AOL days.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I searched under "all open forums" and could only turn up factoid 11, 7, and 4. I'm interested in trying to replicate the statistical study for all limited editions to see what floats up. What pieces using the statistics would be most valuable, least valuable today?

If anyone has any ideas how I can get the rest of the factoids and spreadsheets, please let me know. I was emailed on spreadsheet already and that was helpful, but not all formulae was on the spreadsheet.

Thanks to anyone who is able to help.

I find it interesting that when I do a Subject Line only search on "Factoid" I come up with ten items. They include:
HL Factoid #2
HL Factoid #4
HL Factoid #7
Factoid #8
HL Factoid #9
HL Factoid #10
HL Factoid #11 part 1 - What to Buy?
HL Factoid #11 part 2 - What to Buy?
HL Factoid #11 part 3 - What to Buy?
Download Factoid #11 Spreadsheet

I don't understand why people are getting different search results. Additionally if you go to the spreadsheet that I sent you and look in cells A169 thru A195 you will see that there is data in the cell that isn't readily seen. If you select that cell you will be able to read its entire contents in the formula bar. Hope this helps. wink

thanks to all, and thanks Jim Chesher for e-mailing me the spreadsheet. I've gone to HL's site and gotten a full list of all limited editions and imposed that upon the spreadsheet you provided. Now I'm trying to update the column information to see how things play out. For prices, I think e-bay is most reflective of the type of secondary market people buy from today.

also, thanks for the tip on searching on subject line only. It gave me the same results you posted. I assume that the missing numbers mean that there were no factoids?

Looks like a nice job of forum archaeology, Peter. Early entries in The Factoid Series partly derive from messages I posted on the AOL forum that was the predecessor to these fora. Not all survived - at least in my databanks. Alas, some slices of history are lost in time. This is vaguely documented in my final msg. of the thread here .

The download of my spreadsheet did not survive the transition to upgraded forum software. There used to be little mailboxes for each of the forums that served as repositories for the forum admins to post news, updates, welcome messages, and the like. That is where the spreadsheet was stashed. A software upgrade seems to have done away with those little mailboxes.

I'm glad someone sent you a copy. Does the copy you received have a version number in the footnotes? Version 1.05 or later is the one you want. Hopefully you've figured out the formulas and whatnot.

I'm trying to figure out all the formulas. I have gathered the spreadsheet from Harbor Lights that lists their entire collection. I'm going to run everything on that list and see what floats out. I'm thinking that e-bay is the secondary market source to use since that seems to be accessible by the majority of people over storefront establishments.

The only problem with eBay is the items run "hot & cold". Sometimes a piece sells well below retail then all of a sudden it commands more of a premium price.

There are a lot of bargains on eBay accompanied by items that sell for more than a bargain-hunter would be willing to pay. Go figure...

if I follow e-bay over a period of time, I'll start to get a picture of price ranges for specific lights.

I also would like to see if one or two post-market dealers would provide price points for as many lights as they have. The more secondary market information that is available, the more accurate the predictions that can be made.

If you want assistance in understanding my spreadsheet formulas, just ask. A small insight may be gleaned from HL Factoid #11 part 3 - What to Buy?

For others who are interested, it appears there is a message pointing to the downloads, however the links go nowhere.

--->>Yo JC - are files still available? (cf. Message and Download Page )

They don't appear to be there. Do you have them still? Not sure why, since the downloads folder is.

I have reloaded those files from my hard drive. I think they may have gotten lost when we changed servers.

The one file link that doesn't work refers to the formulas explanation. Use this link instead:

I've loaded most of the ebay HL transactions for
April into the spreadsheet that was from 2000. How do I get it from my computer to this forum?
