I need help finding a source for an old lighthouse book. The title is "Suggestions To Keepers Of US Lighthouses And Lightstations" by Fredrick True 1884. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If anyone can find this book, Kenrick A. Claflin and Son would be my bet. Here is a link to their website: http://www.ultranet.com/~jclaflin/ Good luck!! "TheLightkeeper"

The 'Lighthouse Gallery & Gifts' in Kill Devil Hills, NC carries a small but nice collection of old/out of print lighthouse related books, so you might check with Cheryl & Bruce Roberts at 1-800-579-2827 or email: lighthouses@outer-banks.com. I've also been able to locate out of print books using the various search engines (AltaVista specifically). Good luck!

Cheryl & Bruce Roberts sold the Lighthouse Gallery & Gifts in Nag's Head last year, but the new owners can help you out.

We have found a lot of old nautical type books at one of our favorite nautical antiques dealers in Easton Maryland. We don't know if they have it, but they have lots of old books and know lots of other people who also do. You might try them. Here's their information. And if you get to Easton, Maryland, it's well worth a stop in to see their shop.
Al and Paulette Lawing Easton Maritime Antiques, Inc. 27 South Harrison Street Easton, MD 21601 410-763-8853 Home 410-753-8843
Good luck Monty.
PS - Easton is kind of a little laid back town. If you should ever have the opportunity to stop by their shop and they aren't there, don't be surprized. Just call them at home (that's at their request) and if they can, they will come and open the shop for you. They are a delightful couple.

Monty - D.N. Goodchild Publisher at www.anyboat.com is a small publishing house that specializes in reprinting out-of-print books. They will look for a specific book in archives, reprint it with type-set (not photocopied)and bind it for you. I'm sure their service is not cheap but if you are anxious for a specific book and can't find it through an antiquarian bookstore, this may be the one way to get it. Good luck!

St. John, Who are the new owners of Lighthouse Gallery and Gifts? We have enjoyed visiting the store when we were on the Outer Banks and Woody was always most helpful and informative. Chat with him from time totime on the net. Thanks! Moby

Moby, The new owners are Woody & Cindy Woodall. They're both wonderful people and will do everything they can to make sure you're taken care of. I've been in the store several times since they took over and have had a few things shipped to me since I moved to Texas. I have nothing but good things to say about them.
