Which piece has the most value in your collection? It could be for the money or for lots of us, the memory. Some memories you can never put $$ value on. Any takers on this?

The most valuable in my collection is Barnegat. I am not sure of its current value but for memories it is worth the most to me. In actual $ I guess it would be Big Bay??

Mine is S.E.Block Island. Lots of fond memories and good times. As for $, it is probably this one or St Simons.

This used to be a tough one to answer... but not after Bill Younger presented John Chidester and I each our very own Gold Cape St George Regional Lighthouse for the work we have done on the Harbour Lights website.

It means more to me than any other HL lighthouse that I own.... it is priceless to me.

I would say my favorite in terms of sentimental value is Pemaquid. Not just a gorgeous lighthouse up close and in person, but the first Harbour Light to capture my attention and my VISA card.

$$$ value? Definitely New Point Loma. It was worth every penny.

I guess I should have put mine in my first post(DOH).
Bald Head I think has the most meaning, its the first one I carefully looked at and said,"thats it,I was right there on that very spot". Once they capture you like that, you`re hooked.
Value wise, I`d say its my open edition Skip Jack Nancy or my Ocracoke.

For me, it would have to be my CH2 and then my Ocracoke. As far as a priceless memory, my Cape Neddick. I had the opportunity to visit that light by "riding the wire" with my then 3-year old daughter along with a few other Coasties who were servicing the light.

Several years ago, I called a store in Arizona searching for ANY HL lighthouses. I found a special piece. A #108 Burrows Island. Store shipped this lighthouse to me, and when I opened the box, there was a very old/non glossy paint job on this piece. I turned the lighthouse to the flag area, and spotted the limited edition #26, and that is when I saw the Burrows Island, "OR." (Oregon) on the flag. I was "home alone" at the time, and no one to tell of my findings. I yelled in delight of my findings!! So this has to be the "rare" piece that we have.
The favorite: There are so many special lighthouses that we have visited since we started collecting, due to taking side trips before each of the reunions, and with living in Michigan! All hold a special meaning!
What's yours ?

For My wife and I, It is Thomas Point. She gave it to me on our first anniversary (3/23/97). I saw it in a collectibles store we shopped at and loved it. It was our first HL and Bill Y. later autographed it and wrote "The first" on it for us. While we still haven't seen it in person, (The time went by to fast in Baltimore. Imagine that.)
It holds a special place in our hearts.

That would be a very hard decision to make. I'm extremely fond of many HLs in my collection. None of my favorites are determined by their actual worth or what I spent for them. Many of them carry a story behind their purchase. I'll pass on naming a favorite HL. There are too many in the running for that designation.

In terms of monetary value the Hooper Strait will probably be my most vaulable when it arrives. As far as a more personal value it would probably be the ones that represent places where I have had the pleasure of meeting fellow forum members, the lights of Baltimore, Chicago, Charlotte-Genesee and Hudson-Athens where I met my very first Wacko who in my book is it's premier keeper! In terms of money value, Hooper strait or Saqint Augustine are probably worth the most. But, the one I value the most is Cape Henry. Cape Henry was the first lighthouse I ever visited and was the one that hooked me on lighthouses. It also happened to be the first HL I ever bought.

My most valuable one would have to be Pt. Arena. Since it was so breakable it is probably the rarest one I own. My priceless one is Alcatraz. My wife and I went to San Francisco for Valentines day and saw it is a gift shop. Our first HL. Priceless!

Mine would have to be Gay Head! It is a beautiful piece and the lighthouse itself is awesome! I only wish they would rebuild the keeper's quarters.

Hummmmm, that's a toss up between Currituck, NC, Thomas Point, MD, and East Quoddy, Canada. I like them all, however these three are the top three on my list so far.

I think Ponce De Leon Inlet means the most to me because my wife bought this piece for me on our 30th anniversary. I was stationed in New Symrna Beach at the CG Station across the inlet from Ponce. I worked on the radio beacon several times during the period that the lighthouse was deactivated. We had a tower on the station with a flashing light that took the place of the lighthouse. I think my wife really regrets buying me this 1st piece to my collection because it never stopped after that. That was Oct. 1994.

I value my Florida lighthouses the most because I have been able to travel to them during my CG duties and also during retirement.

My favorite, because I proposed to my wife there, is Saint Joseph North Pier. I grew up listening to the fog horn and lived only a 1/4 of a mile from it. This is where I began my love for lighthouses.
The most valuable in $$'s is probably my Hooper Strait pieces. I have flag #'s 31 and 32. Ocracoke comes in second with a flag number of 411.

Welcome to the forum, DK! #411 on Ocracoke is a great number! #31 & #32 on your reunion pieces means you were one of the lucky ones that got through early in day. Congrats!

Hmmm, lets see. Sentimentally, its a close one between Michigan City east pier, the first HL I ever owned, and Big Bay, Mi., where I proposed to my now wife. Monetarily, probably Burrows Island or Big Bay.

Monetarily, it would be my original Cape Hatteras [#28]. Sentimental of course would be Mukilteo, since I am a volunteer docent there and have spent many hours sharing this lighthouse with others. Favorites are the ones I have visited throughout the years which Harbour Lights has made; and then there are those my kids and grandkids have given me as gifts; and then there are those Al has surprised me with, just because; and then there are those that remind me of the reunions and the special times I have had with my daughter and all the "wackos" I have met; and then there are those that just kinda catch your eye; and . . . I guess the entire collection has special meaning of one kind or another. Love My Harbour Lights.
