Kind of a sweet 'n sour day. It's great to see another retirement (if a forced one). At the same time, this is the anniversary of the lighthouse's destruction.
From what I've heard around the daquiri cooler (the water cooler's...uh...in for repairs), not too many people picked up Round Island. I found it very poignant...a broad reminder that our beacons, despite their appearance of being indestructible, can, and do, disappear...oftentimes when we least expect it.
As I said in my original review (nominated for a Silver Modem Award), I hope that the current restoration of the light is successful. Then Harbour Lights can issue new stickers so the "then" and "now" pieces can switch places.
